7k
Well, I hit 7k finally.
I haven't been around here as much as I used to (or would like to), and because of that I feel more than a little guilty. Haven't updated my column in ages (I have been writing though, check the gaming forum if you want to see for what), and haven't given you all the priveledge of seeing a 1000 word dissertation on the nature of relations with Taiwan in awhile either. But Asylum is still my homepage, and the first thing I check when I manage to grab some online time away from The Computer Nazi. I still bear the weight of a person neglecting their responsibilities though, and I think that may be a testement to the Asylum as much as my own laziness.
In any case big changes for ME coming soon, fuck the site! Hehehehe. I leave for Maine in exactly a week, and am excited/nervous in regards to my return to Academia.
But enough about me, on to gloating about others!
Two dedications, as always, as per my own personal tradition.
Dingle: Before you ask I was going to dedicate this to him before I knew he was rich. hehehehehe. Those that haven't talked to him personally are missing out. He's a way cool guy, very funny. Even though I think he has trailer-park political opinions, I still enjoy his online company immensely.
I remember my first real encounter with him (or at least the first one I remember) very clearly. He was posting about seperation pangs from his significant other. Even though they had been broken up for a long time, he still felt like he was in love with her. I posted something lengthy (as always) in reply that basically came down to the opinion that perhaps you NEVER stop loving people. That once you're in love, you can never get out of it. That you carry it with you forever. We talked about it for awhile more. I don't know why I remember that exchange so clearly, perhaps it is because our discussion really crystalized a few thoughts of my own I have struggled with from time to time, perhaps just to demonstrate that Dingle is more then just the Scatologist we all know and love. But coincidentally, his warm reception to that encounter may be the very reason I was accepted onto this project.
He's a very cool guy to know.
Wasted Potential: I grow to love the Idawhores more and more everyday. I don't know WP that well personally, but I can't think of a post by him that I have not enjoyed IMMENSELY. He's smart, he's really funny, and he's a great story-teller (either with his camera or with his keyboard). I still he should run for city council (which he was considering), and am a bit sad that he probably won't see this (though I understand his reasons for cutting down on his internet time). He's one of those select few that have me racing to a thread when I see he was the last poster in it, because I know I am in for a treat. I once told someone that he was perhaps the perfect forum poster. Articulate, intelligent, funny, but never one to say TOO much.
So that's it. That's my 7k. And in case anybody cares, I still can't hear out of my left ear.
Cheers.
