Post Why children should be eaten while they are young

School starts on Wednesday. I took Little Al shopping for school clothes today.

$234.00 later, we headed home.

Now, what did I get out of all that, you may ask?
Two Ultimate cheeseburgers.

I am NOW, all for uniforms in schools.

So, when are you picking up Steph to take her shopping? School doesn't start until the 4th so you have time to wrap those pennies...

THanks, Trina, I almost feel better. She wants to wait until Big Al gets back before she gets whatever else she needs. Apparently I am shopping challenged and moan and flop around too much to have allowed her to properly fulfilled her required shopping experience.
It seems that it is not cool to loudly demand why a pair of jeans HAD to say Jordache on them.
And can someone explain why it is better to die slowly than to be seen near a clearance rack? She was freaking out over me waving clothes and yelling. "LOOK!!! THREE BUCKS AND IT HAS A FROG ON IT!!!!!!"

lmao.. I remember putting my mom through hell this time of year. "But painter pants are cool mom", "I'll just die if I show up on the first day without legwarmers", "No no.. the white canvas NikesŪ with the RED swoosh".

(School doesn't start until September 4th)

I got this email yesterday. Sorta fitting to post it here, I think.

This Year's College Freshman

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change
things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin put together a
list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's
incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list.

1. The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were
born in 1983.

2. They have no meaningful recollection of the
Reagan Era and probably did not know that he had ever been shot.

3. They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged.

4. They were 10 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember
the Cold War.

5. They have never feared a nuclear war.

6. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

7. Their lifetime has always included AIDS

8. Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic

9. ATARI predates them as do vinyl albums. The statement "You sound like
a broken record" means nothing to them.

10. They have never owned a record player

11. They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong.

12. They may have never heard of an 8 track. The CD was introduced the
year they were born.

13. They have always had an answering machine

14. They have never seen a rotary-dial phone

15. Most have never seen a TV set with only 13 channels or a Black &
White TV

16. They have always had cable

17. There have always been VCRs and they have no idea what BETA is

18. They cannot fathom not having a remote control

19. They were born the year after Sony introduced Walkmen's

20. Roller Skating has always meant inline for them

21. Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show

22. They have no idea when or why Jordache jeans were cool

23. Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave

24. They have never seen Larry Bird play

25. They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

26. They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are

27. They don't know who Mork was or where he was
from

28. They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd
walk a mile for a Camel," or "de plane, de plane!"

29. They do not care who shot J.R. and have no
idea who J.R. is

30. Michael Jackson has always been white

31. Kansas, Chicago, Boston, America, and Alabama
are places, not groups

32. McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers

33. They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter

Do you feel old yet?

That is what I say to Little Al all the time.

Her response is usually "Bite me".

23. Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave

funny thing about this:

i like the taste of freshly popped corn better. so i went to walmart to buy a popper. they don't carry them anymore, and when i asked a salesperson for assistance in locating such a device, they looked at me as if i were crazy.

kids.

Side note. McDonalds went back to styrofaom containers very soon after switching to paper. They are brown, thin and lumpy like paper but if you look close you can see they are styrofoam. At least in California.

Take a close look sometime.

The cups and fry containers are paper but the boxex the sandwiches come in are foam.

I ate most of Little Al's Sourdough Jack, all the onion rings and a large strawberry-banana shake, too.
While Big Al is gone, I am running amok at the fast food joints.
She may come back early just to stop this madness.
