Red face

Kurt, I'm sorry, I thought you meant you wanted help from Paint CHiPs the moderator, not help with Paint software.

So sorry!!!

I just looked at Paint. You're right, it doesn't have the option to save jpg files.

I went to CNET's www.download.com & looked at image file conversion programs. The following two freeware programs were well recommended. I haven't used either myself, so I can't guarantee anything(!). But download.com is reliable in my experience.

Additional features include full-screen and fit-in-window display options and image rotation

Hope this helps.

Also check for photoed.exe - it should be on your system (Win98).

Kurt, paint can only work with windows bitmaps (bmp) i am afriad... If you install office 98/2000 then it changes mspaint.exe to allow you to save in jpg format i think.

However you need a proper paint program. I would recommend Paint Shop Pro - possibly V7 if you can afford to download it or find it on cd somewhere.

id say get photoshop or paint shop pro if you can afford either. If you dont do any heavy graphic design, probably not worth your while though. I know PSP has a 30 day trial (and i think ive seen a hack on this site, you may be able to find it by searching). Not familiar with any freewares though, and id stay away from them if you wanted to do anything semi-serious with images, but considering youre using ms-paint im assuming you dont...

you can give Advanced Batch Convertor a try. It's shareware, it's quick and dirty but it'll do what you want. Here's a download link:

i believe there is also an updated version of mspaint.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

if you really need it - personally i would do it with a proper paint program like PSP
