Post webcams

I bought one today, but the picture is really kind of grainy no matter what I do.
Is that because it's a cheap piece of Logitech crap or are there some tweaking thingies I can tweak?

Once again folks, the more information you provide about the things with which you are having problems, the easier it will be for others to help you.

absolut, I don't have enough info to be of any real use. Give me the model of your cam and any other pertainent details. In the mean time, you may want to have a read at this, a tech support document for general logitech cam setup, or you may find the rest of the logitech support documents here.

I am sure that karen can answer this better than I, but often times, when I am just fucking around on the cam, lighting differences really effect the grain. I know this is not really a technical answer, but as in any photography, light is important. Too much and everything will be brighted out. Too little and it still picks up the image, but the image looks real grainy. Fool around with light. It helps to have a lamp on top of your computer, or hovering over your webcam. And don't point it at your face, but point it down so it is hitting the webcam, but not in view of the lens.

And of course, a lot of webcams will just always look a bit grainy, especially the lower quality ones. But in my experiences with various webcams, it is usually the lighting that effects that most often.

I had probs with grainy picture etc on my Creative cam, I know this may sound strange but have you checksed to see if has manual focus. I spent an entire evening trying to find an option to change the quality of the pic and then disccovered the front of the cam twisted like the old style cameras. dunno whether that will help, just an idea
