Win 98 & Outlook Express Easter Eggs
I found a site recently that told how to access three easter eggs hidden in Win 98 & Outlook Express.
Win 98
1) Go to the desktop and right-click. Choose new/shortcut. In the command line write "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME\WELDATA.EXE" You_are_a_real_rascal
Press Finish
Right-click this new shortcut, and from the menu choose Properties.
In the Run field, select Minimized. Also make sure that the Start in field shows "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME"
(Please note, you may have to add a few letters if windows has a extention added to the address. (On mine I had to identify Windows as WINDOWS.000)
2)Another Easter Egg for Win 98:
(This is just as I clipped it off a web site.) To access Windows 98's Easter Egg, double-click on the time to bring up Date/Time Properties panel. Click on the Time Zone tab.
Now, the tricky part. Hold the CTRL key and click your mouse right where the 1 is listed below. While holding the CTRL key down, drag your mouse to where you see the 2 below. Then, while still holding the CTRL key, let up the left mouse button and click again, and drag the mouse to the 3 location. Finally, let up the mouse and CTRL key, and the easter egg should start.
Be patient and try repeatedly if it doesn't work - it usually takes me 2-3 tries (5 the first time!) to get it to work!
Outlook Express Easter Egg
This one I can't figure out. But here is the process anyway, maybe it will work for you.
Start Outlook Express
Click the Compose Message toolbar button
Select Format > Rich Text (HTML) from the menu
Click in the body of the message
Select the font box, and type athena
Press Enter
Close the Compose Message window
When asked Do you want to save changes to this message? select No
Go back to the main Outlook Express window
Select the Outlook Express icon, above Inbox, on the left hand side
Click on an empty space between, for example, Read Mail and Read News
Type.
This will launch the Easter egg.
Anyone else know a few hidden tricks?
