Post Winamp error

About a week or so ago, we upgraded our winamp.

Today, every once in awhile, I have been having trouble with it.

When I put in a CD, for example, the CD will start playing, but then winamp gives me an "preformed an illegal action" or something, and forces winamp closed. Thing is, the CD still plays, yet no applications will be open.

NOW, I am started to get this.

Nullosft waveOut plug-in v2.02 (x86)

MMSYSTEM020 The driver did not generate a valid OPEN callback

What the fuck does that mean? It does this usually when it switches from a CD song to an MP3.

Anybody know what this is or how to fight the evil that has possessed my music playing thingie?

Dammit! I was *just* gonna say that Dingle!

I think you might want to saturate it too. Infusion of RAM backup via pouring equilibrium scaling potentialization.

After that's done, perhaps try liquid crystal duplication error removal.

But what Dingle said should do it. Really.
He is God.

(Um. You haven't done anything *really* silly yet, I hopw. Like reinstall winamp? I hope not!)

Paint,

Whats the plugin that it is trying to run? is it graphical? It may be a problem with that. I would completely uninstall it , remove all directory's after running add /remove progs in the control panel and then reinstall it clean and see how you go.

I *believe* the plugin is the one that, when a CD starts playing and you are online, it connects to some database and finds the name of the songs and the artist and whatnot. You know the one?

Everytime yesterday that that plugin started up, it would fuck up.

that plug in is the 'play file as a wav' output .. the standard listening option. if you go into options (right click the win amp dialog)/preferences/plug-ins/output/ you should see different out put plug in options. the highlighted option is the selected option. I don't know aht direct sound or WMA are but the wav out is the regular play format, and disk writer will convert whatevr you play to a file (.wav I think) on to the hard disk. I believe you can only have one output plug-in selected at a time, which means that there's probably a problem with the out_wave.dll file and your system. my guess is that if you reinstalled the app recently that the .dll in question was not over written with a new .dll (possibly shared with another app?) I would delete all the files and the folder ; program files/winamp/plugins (of course providing you installed to the default) and then run the install program again. this way you won't lose any skins or anything, and the .dll in question will definitly be replaced.
if that doesn't work, then there's a conflict with that .dll somplace else, in which case you're fucked.

btw .. the out_wav.dll file on my machine was created Thursday, October 19, 2000 2:03:13 PM .. double check your current .dll to see if it's an older one.

try upgrading your soundcard drivers.

uninstall and search registry for winamp and delete the keys. you won't get them all but probably enough to consider it clean, then reinstall it.

have sex with your beautiful girlfriend. possibly get a blowjob. just be sure before hand that the kid doesn't need to take a crap.

reboot the computer and listen to some sex music, make fuck with your girlfriend again.

that would be tight. yeah.

What Winamp is it? I am still using 2.09, and I think it's the best since it's the last version before they added the assload of crap (minibrowser, extended ID3 tags, ect). It plays MP3's, and it does it well. That's all I want it to do. Simplify.
