Domain Names

Does it really matter where you register your domain name, or is there one place that's supposed to do it and everyone else is charging you additional fees to act as mediaries?

if you pay less than 75 dollars it's better than internic was charging. otherwise i don't think it matters who you register with.

I registered nofuse.com from http://www.domainmonger.com last night for 2 years at 33 bucks. that's the cheapest I've seen. it also provides nothing but the registration of the name. web hosting and all that other stuff is extra, but if you have a DSL (at least) and a computer that's always on, you could always host it yourself. that's what I intend to do .. although I may have it hosted by someone else until I get my own DSL .. this will cost about 40 - 50 bucks a month, but will include a butt load of space, ftp access to the domain, and email forwarding (they do your me@registereddomian.com mail account)for one account .. usually more accounts cost more $$$ .. this would also include some basic tech support stuff and all minor fixings .. if you wanted to pay some big bucks you could have a site registered and hosted with a ton of space, web design tools, and all the major fixings .. but that's generally reserved for companies and such .. spending all that cash for a place to post your pictures would be silly I think.
