i have a question for those that know about winME

ok computer #1 has a internal hub
but #2 has the modem, this may all be irrelevent considering its only 2 computers that just have sharing on, with no need of ip's and subnets

now, can i set #2 as the server to the internet even though #1 has the hub?

i hate how you have to go through a wizard to do this but microsoft says i have to.
does anyone have any input on this?

i don't know about "internal hubs," but if i'm guessing right, you're talking about internet connection sharing on the one without the modem, right?

the need for this is that #2 doesn't know it needs to talk to another computer, or share it's connection, because it doesn't have internet connection sharing/"internal hub."

If you're saying you have a multiport nic, different thing.

you can get an external proxy programs, but the only one's i know of cost money.

internet connection sharing is basically a trimmed down proxy server. limited settings and security options... it's not your only hope though.

the #2 ethernet card is a Realtek TRL8029(AS-)-based PCI Ethernet Adapter, with just tcp-ip protocols installed, with the hd mapped, file and printer sharing on

the #1 is a Realtek RTL8029(as)-based pci ethernet adapter, with the same protocals as above

but #2 has the modem, so your saying i have to move the modem to #1 to share with #2?
btw, winME doesn't need an external program

if both 1 and 2 have me on them set up the one with the modem for internet connection sharing using that wizard thing. should be simple like that. but the one with the modem should be the server. i don't know any more about setting up internet connection sharing tho. maybe spooky or someone at http://arstechnica.infopop.net does.
