Question on IRC!

I'm at a school computer right now, I am rather sure they have a firewall up. Is there anyway to get past it to go in IRC or something like it?

errr you might be able to go past the firewall. Try it and see. If it fails then get a shell account on port 8080 and use BitchX through Telnet.

Oh and yes this should be in the Tech Forum.

If the java chat doesn't work, your best shot is to buy a beer/root beer/slushie for the network admin so he/she will open up a port for your IRC client.

Ah sorry. They have blocks in so I can not download .exe files, like BitchX.

It won't allow me to do that either. It has a server side block so it is blocked before I ever try to go to it. If I try and download and rename, I just download a HTML file telling me it is blocked.

Well they have it so if you do not turn in your internet agreement you can not log on to the browser, or internet. I have already bypassed that so I have internet access without any legalities.

I don't beleive it. No school has ever had (nor will ever have) a good computer security policy. There has to be a way.
