Dr Sbaitso voice synthesizer

have you heard of this old DOS program? it came with a 'creative' sound blaster 16 and its this virtual guy or whatever, and he talks to you.

now, i downloaded this zip file with:

Blaster.drv
Read.exe
Readme.com
readme.txt
Remove.exe
Sb.bat
Sbaitso2.exe
Sbtalk.bat
Sbtalker.exe
Sbtest.txt
Set-echo.exe

and i got sbaitso2.exe to work, thats the actual AI part.. but when i run it it says synthesizer not installed

now, in the readme file it says you have to set up some sort of "blaster enviroment".. which it says to check in the sound blaster manual (which i cant find, or dont have)

im assuming it involves running the Sbtalk.bat Sbtalker.exe Set-echo.exe Sb.bat files in some order. in DOS mode i can run them in any order, and then when i start sbaitso2.exe it makes a short voice-like sound and locks up.
when i run Sbtalker in a DOS window it says "ERROR loading speech driver StandDac.drv" - im guessing this might be some sort of problem.

question is: do you know how to find this StandDac.drv, or do you know where i can find a properly working version of Dr Sbaitso, or do you know of any free voice synthesizer that might be easier to operate.

I've never used it, but Dr Sbaitso can be downloaded from here, here, here or here. If none of those work, try clicking on one of the links from here.

great.

any one of those will work.. luckily http://www.cpsc.suu.edu/users/smith...070/Sbaitso.htm showed the proper sequence for loading the driver.. its actually very simple.

you run sbtalk.bat and the sbaitso2.exe and thats it. and then remove.exe to remove the driver.

Hehe, it came with my OLD SBPro! card, back in the days of the 386.
Me and my friends used to have lots of fun with it. . .

one of my friends had Dr. Sbaitso on his computer when we were in jr. high.

we used it to prank call people.

this was in the days before caller ID, much more innocent times.

"Hello, is ______ there?"

"what the hell?"

"I think I love you."

"Marge, I think there's a robot on the phone!"

"I am a robot. I love you."

"It loves me, Marge!"

everyone loves Marge, even they do.

Dr Sbaitso is turning out to be very useful. he has provided me with the vocals for "fish nation anthem".. he has a lovely singing voice. he sounds like younger Stephen Hawking.
