outlook express

okay, my computer busted last night.. bad sectors. i had to scan disk etc. and my outlook express is messed up. id reinstall but i dont have time to transfer the addresses @ the mo'.. too much school work.
besides i have an email on there.. i think from a friend back home (which is fairly important) that i need to read.. ack..
but it looks like this:


can anyone help?

Re-installing just OE shouldn't cause it to loose your mail. I've dug around the MS Knowledge base and I haven't found any that relates to your problem. Sorry, can't offer much advice here...

this probably isnt something that can be fixed without reinstalling. if scandisk found bad sectors and marked them unusable, and parts of outlook were in the bad sectors, you HAVE to reinstall.

as far as address book, theres an export and import feature on the file menu. ive never used them but im sure you can retain your address book using them...

Sorry Datura, I don't have a clue.

I do however, have a question since we are on the subject of Outlook for 98 SE. Why is it I cannot get it to remember the listing of newsgroups? Everytime I try to check them out, I have to redownload the entire list, (close to 44,000 of them!) As well, I've never once had it remember which ones I subscribed to. I've been through all the settings and such but still nada. Any ideas?

tools > layout > and untick info pane if its on

also - try running the Internet Connection Wizard with dummy details.

you're the only person who could help me. i have outlook 2000 now.. i like it more, except i cant view attatchments on the actual page.. i have to view them all seperatley by selecting them.. do you know if it's possible for them to have the same view as the outlook express (pics etc. as a part of the email)?

No idea on how to fix that, but I would like to comment on the number of messages there!

That's a lot of messages to read.
At 10 minutes per read/reply, you're looking at 30390 minutes, or 506.5 hours!
506.5 hours @ 15 an hour = $7600 or so.
That is assuming you reply to every message, and never ever get junk mail

shit - i get way more email than that - my olx identities take up about 500Mb - compressed

anyway you should be able to get them to display the same amy - check view > layout

Haha.. naw I'm not that popular.. I'm a big loser really lol - I'd like more email.. grrrrr !
I delete email sometimes, not all of the time.. it all depends on how lazy I am to press the delete button on the keyboard. I should actually go through it and weed some out.. I tried one day.. but I found it to be too time consuming & boring.. yet I guess it is a good idea.

GF: I *wish* I was making that po' uni student *sniff*.. i hate tuition.

Aminal: i suck.. it's not working.. i've tried different views.. it's just a pain in the ass to have to open the attatchments seperately.. esp. pictures.. having to open them in photoshop etc.

TEFL: I have no idea I'm sorry. I do know that w/ outlook 2000, the newsgroups button is right on the left hand side.. i don't even remember seeing it w/ my outlook express.. strange.

another question:
most of the time when i attempt to attatch files to my e-mail, i get a kernel32 error(in outlook 2000)...
why is this? ARGHHHH

probably the same reason it wont view attachments... i recommend re=installing the software (outlook 2000) or going bakc to Outlook Express

i followed those instructions and now my computer wont start at all. explorer gets an illegal SENS.DLL at 0177:6010a99b

im missing some dll file. FUCK
i have my resume on there (which i need for tomorrow.. i just finished editing it) and my portfolio..

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
