internet explorer has developed a mind of its own recently. it will not allow me to change the internet options because "This option has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. This was done by a website I visited or something I think. I would like some help. Also what is the .INI file that holds on the internet settings for INternet Explorer.1 thanks.

Or someone just installed a policy onto your machine.

Either way, if your running Win9x, you should be able to reboot your machine into dos and rename any .pol files. Note however, if this is a work machine and it logs onto the network and pulls a policy off a PDC, the profile will automatically be restored as soon as you log on again.

IE doesn't store it's settings in a INI file, but rather in the registry.

there are no .POL files on my system, its not a work/school computer that has policies.
