i start feeling uncomfortable

it is surely a great idea what u think the asylum can be. the question is will it really be like that one day ? wonderaz , u know why i ranted in that other thread ? because i start feeling uncomfortable with the whole situation. i feel like beeing 16 and sitting together with friends planning to make a movie. wow , we get carried away and plan things and it all sounds great. everyone gets his little bit to do and suddenly while beeing at it everyone realises you cant film a thriller with teenagers. i mean only with teenagers. of course you dont stop , eventhough you feel uncomfortable with the whole situation. and in the end you present something that everyone likes because you put so much effort in it not because it is a good movie, but noone will say that.

what i want to say is... i like the ideas , but are sure , i mean are u really sure that we can fill them with life ? i m feeling a little uncomfortable...
and some critics : i love the logos , i dont like the buttons on the main page.

hi iglo!! long time no posts. heehee! anyway...how you feel now is how i first felt in the spf when this idea was first brought to the table. everyone was getting all excited, and talking over one another, and people were running around saying this and that. i was interested, but reserved. after all, i didn't know any of these lunatics who claimed they could build a website just to put profiles in. what kind of madness is that? but look at what we have today!! i think that even if some of these ideas never come to fruition, it's best to always be THINKING of new ways to improve the site, to keep things interesting, to keep us motivated. you know what happens when you get satisfied with what you have and lose your vision? you get stile. same old shit, different day.

p.s.: please don't ever stop questioning anything!! it's people like you who said "you know, this whole zeppelin filled with hydrogen might not be such a good idea..." *BOOM*!

OK, very good questions.

All I can say is, I hope so. I plan on doing my best to see that happen.
Do consider this, most of what you see in my Vision thread doesn't really affect the day to day life in the main place we hang out, which is here. What I mainly see is just a whole bunch of improvements right around the corner. Improvements that are being created with all of us in mind. You don't have to use them all or even see them if you don't like. But they would be there for those that do. If there is something that you would like made available, then it would be considered and implimented if possible.
The point is, this is a community, right? It has grown and become closer over these months and now there is an opportunity to make it even better.
Not everyone is going to like every phase, but most of them can be avoided if that is the way you feel. The "store" idea for example, it would simply be a button that you never click if you don't like it. You never have to see it and it will have no affect on your time spent here other than the occasional post about it. Make sense?

Speaking for myself, I am not a teenager. This is not the first time I have taken on a project and seen it through to a successful conclusion. Understand this also, I am not and have never been driven by money. I have played for a living my whole life. Evewrything I have ever done was undertaken for the FUN aspect, not profit. I am an Artist, I fly balloons, I played cowboy working on a horse ranch breaking horses, I used to hunt snakes for a living. All FUN and I made a living. I am living the promise I made myself in college. PLAY FOR A LIVING.
I said all that to give you an idea of why I am doing what I am doing. This is a fun project. You people are great, what an array of humanity and life experiences, and many of you I consider friends. It is a tight group and I feel that this communal effort will enrich all of us who continue to be here.
Did that make any sense? Or answer your question?

i didnt want to sound too sceptic. just another thing. the profiles are a good example. it is a funny thing but what is it good for , acctually. the things that happen to this site should be more than just a ballon u poke a needle in and what is left is hot air...

Well, about the profiles... From what my two friends at school whom I showed this site to had to say, they really like the profiles and spent a lot of time looking at them. I think their purpose is to not only provide personal info and a pic, but some amusement as well, as I try to do with my profile.

wonderaz , i dont doubt that you doing it for fun, i havent called you a teenager, that was just a picture i used.
have you been building up something that involved 100+ opinions and different minds ? if you have i bow before you. sometimes its hard enough to get two opinions under the same hat. i was just thinking about what (in the worst case) the result can be. what we are trying here is perhaps the first time done on the internet.(perhaps not)
let me ask something about community. is this already something you can call community or is it just a loose bunch of people ? i myself havent decided yet how i see it.
if it is a community it should be judged by how it treats the "minorities". ok , this may sound strange now but i think people here are not treated equally. i m not speaking of myself now. this is no accusation , it just sometimes appears to me like that.
seems i m becoming the forum pessimist

maybe minorities isnt the right word, but sometimes the forum acts like every group acts , even if the single persons knows better. someone is choosen to pick on. now it is anti-stile and for a time it was skapegoat. you may say now "but there were reasons.." of course there were reasons but the forumpeople need extremly much time to forgive it seems, instead more and more people jump the bandwagon and push the spiral further.
i am convinced that if someone like you , wonderaz, would pick any person. you d be able to make that person the new skapegoat, even if there is no real ground u would base it on. you just have to insist on it (this is all hypothetical) and enough blind sheep would follow and give it the kick that makes the whole thing a self runner...
i really hope that i am wrong but the whole anti-stile thing at the moment has this aftertaste. many people judge him from what u and the other mods have said. (or did i miss the opening of that secret forum thread ?)

sorry iglo, for making you feel that way. but anti made alot of enemies before this issue ever came up. if you would pay attention to the way he posts replies to people, you would see why! he has a very abrasive attitude that has always gotten him in flame wars. the skapegoat thing i missed entirely, so i can't comment. i do, however, feel the ebb and flow of cliques in here, and try my hardest to remain impartial to them. you seem really down today. anything wrong?

im not sure exactly what you mean but i think i have an idea. if people become a target on the forum who are we to step in and say 'play nice'? i think people would react worse to that than just letting it be. Now i dont have a chance to read every thread here, or even half of them for that matter, but from what i know of the other mods i cant see any of them harassing people, the last thing we want to do is drive people away. But like i said we cant really say 'dont call so-and-so an asshole, its not nice'. All we can do is not feed the flame.

And the anti thing got real out of hand, i wish it wouldnt have got to that point.

Hmmmm maybe you need to read through the threads a little better. Anti was involved in a disagreement. I won't bother rehashing the details. He got into some flame wars with a number of people over it. He loves flame wars by the way. The disagreement has basically been settled.
An hour ago I exchanged emails with him regarding forum design stuff. That situation was old news I thought and happened to be one of the more interesting nights we have had here.
Skapegoat has not been picked on by me. He got pissy with me one night for altering his title to fit a topic he had made and I changed it back and told him to quit being a grouch. the next day we carried on normal conversation. He does try to be an asshole at times (see his title) and has been flamed by others. So what?

Wow, thanks. But off base. iglo, that is a scenario that would never happen. You have certainly known me as long as anyone here. If I have a problem with someone I deal with it myself. I never needed help in SPF flaming people right out of the forum. Dammit! My flames are LEGENDARY!!!! Ask Paint, the forum flame expert.
That wouldn't happen, those "sheep" you are refering to are friends and if I was to use them like that, I would lose their respect I would think. No thanks, not worth it.

my thoughts were only circleing around group dynamics and leadership. dont get my words in the wrong throat, that is not a political statement or something
and morgana , i dont feel like an outcast and when i feel like one , it is self choosen.
