now that i have your attention:

kittie, the new hard metal chick quartet out of canada, is all over every magazine, talk show and mtv special around the world. but they suck. they're only getting this much attention because they are 1: a girl band that 2: plays heavy music.

so, my question to you is: should chick bands get more attention because they're chicks? alot of people feel that just because there is such a shortage in all girl groups that they should get special media attention. but is that fair, when there's alot of bands out there struggling to get seen and heard too? it's like affirmative action for music.

remember that one japanese hard rock all girl trio a couple of years back? i forget what they were called. they sucked, yet they were all over MTV. It didnt take real long for them to fall off the face of the earth, and i suspect the same will happen to kitty.

yeh, so like I said in spf, these gals are popular only because they're girls, and thus can be a double attractor for the teen/preteen audience. the guys can 'think they're hot' and the girls can think they've 'got girl power'

either way, they should *not* be known because they're a girl band, but because of their music. which sucks

the poor things will fizzle out soon enough, and we shan't have to worry about them any longer. so say I.

Kittie sux. This has been established. Sleater-Kinney, on the other hand, should be huge. They're not. No justice in this world. As far as chick idol types go, Shirley Manson (Garbage) has all the scrawny looks of that girl from Kittie, and she can actually sing on key. Now, Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), there's a woman with balls (figuratively speaking). Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins) is a goddess. Both should have been far huger than they ever were. Courtney Love, Kittie, and their ball-crunching ilk can fuck off in a skanky grave.

i don't think there's a shortage of female bands,its just that there is probably a shortage of female metal bands.I mean if you turn on MTV i think the men are the ones who are missing in action.
As for their music...i only like brackish.The rest is crap if you ask me.
