for me, music is a mood. thats why i have no favorite band. last week i was really into psychadelic 60's shit, the doors, etc. now its old punk, sex pistols, early misfits, etc. how about you all?
Even though I consider myself a metal guy, I still expand to other genres like oldies. I'm way into the Beach Boys, Elvis, and even good old blue-eyed soul like Hall and Oates. The Ramones, stuff like that, then there's Deicide and In Flames.. and the great ones, Mr. Bungle, who cover just about every genre imaginable. I can't listen to metal ALL the time.
Psst.. he also listens to Debbie Gibson and Britney Spears!
WHO SAID THAT!?

It doesn't get any sexier than this.
Sex Pistols? I've always prefered The Clash myself - but agreed, music is about moods. I tend to fall in and out of love with most of the stuff I listen to.
At the moment I am mostly listening too: radiohead
When I'm in a good mood, I'll listen to punk, or Industrial music in any way, shape, or form. (Excepting the more technoish industrial, because techno is bad).
When I'm angry, sad, or in a pissy mood, I NEED slow music. It has to have powerful vocals with a sort of mystical feel to it.
