Post THIS IS FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE MOON!

Has anyone felt any sadness over the ending of rage against the machine? I mean, its almost like and end of hope. Like, fuck it, we failed, you guys are screwed. I knew I was just a tad bit pissed when I found out? Now, I know the people here listen to the wrong kind of music for this post, but whatever. Flame me. Please say there was someone else pissed the singer left? thanks.

I can understand how you feel, although I certainly didn't feel that way, I am not a huge Rage fan.

I wasn't surprised though, it was reported that the rest of the band asked the bass player not to knock over the podium at the MTV awards (his original plan) and Tom Morello yelled at him not to do it when he ran on stage. While they were still trying to get him down from the thing he scaled Zach De La Rocha left, saying that he was embarrassed and need to go for a walk and think about things.

My recent issue of Guitar World reports that Rage is working on a live album. I wonder if it had already been recorded, if it had you can probably at least count on that release coming out.

It's a loss, certainly, but no biggie in my musical universe.

They were a helluva live band, the shit Morello could do with that guitar with the kill switch built in...

Politically, I wasn't quite on the same page as them, but I respected the viewpoint.

Looking forward to the rumored Zach/DJ Spooky collaboration...

I read that there are 29 unreleased tracks ready for the next album. Maybe those are the ones you mentioned DM.
Zach DeLa Rocha was quoted saying "I feel that it is necessary to leave Rage because our decision-making process has completely failed. It is no longer meeting the aspirations of all four of us collectively as a band and, from my perspective, has underminded our artistic and political ideal."
translation.....creative differences
The guitarist Tom Morello said "the band will survive with 25% less rage." "We'll keep it loud, keep it funky and most definitely rock on"

I think they are a good band....very powerful. I was a bit unhappy.

as long as fred durst doesn't take over the mic, i'm fine with it. no band lasts forever. and zack was way more politically-minded than the rest of the band. they just wanted to make music. he wanted to make a statement. i've seen this coming for a long time now, ever since they burned their flag amp at woodstock. it was like an omen of things to come.

Re: THIS IS FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE MOON!

I'm very very disapointed 'bout what happened to the band. For me, they're not just a band, they're heroes. No other band voices the suppressed cries of the people...every other band playin on stage like freakin bastards doesn't give a shit bout the the world.Zach mah man!hope to see you makin songs in the future...peace bro.

Zach was doing something with Trent Reznor when Johnny Cash died. Don't know what came of that.

Rage Against the Machine were a great band, which is weird, because they were fiercely political, which is something that would put me off from most bands. Somehow they managed to juggle it, though. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call them heroes, more that they weren't afraid to let their politics (which were often laudable if way over the top) take center stage. But the musical ferocity was there backing it up the whole time, which made it easy to stomach. I guess I see their politics more like I see the politics of the Sex Pistols. That being, present, over the top, but not something that got too in the way of things (though if that's because I don't really take it seriously half the time, whatever.)

Anyway, welcome to our neck of the woods, googler.

paint typed "over the top" twice,"weird" and "whatever" once each and "politics" or "political" four times.
I like the music of Rage and will continue to do so.
Nope, I'm not sad.
