Detroit Music Nominees Announced


DETROIT (AP) - Eminem (news - web sites), Kid Rock, Madonna (news - web sites), Uncle Kracker, Carl Craig, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise and The Suicide Machines are among the nominees for the 2001 Detroit Music Awards, to be presented April 6 at the State Theatre.

The DMAs are an annual presentation of the Motor City Music Foundation, a nonprofit volunteer organization that promotes musicians in the greater metropolitan area.

D-12, The Atomic Numbers and veteran blues performer Johnnie Bassett are among those expected to perform.

Nominees and winners are selected by a voting body of 3,000 professionals who work in the local music industry.

A. PMS is not up for anything.
B. I wanna know why I don't get to vote.
C. Last year I wrote to MetroTimes (who is responsible for the whole thing) and asked them for some tickets and they told me to try ticketmaster.com. Mofos interviewed me for an article about Detroit musicians, I think we should get a table.
D. Madonna??? Just because she lived here til she was like 15 doesn't make her 40 year old disco lip synching shit Detroit music.

Of course it helps if you actually put something out, instead of burning cds and giving them to your friends, but hey... it's underground and DIY and whatever other words they have for lazy. But it doesn't make it any less fun to bitch and moan and email the people putting it on and demanding answers
