Question Classical Music

1. what is your favorite selection? by what composer?

2. who is your favorite composer?

3. do you play any classical instruments?

1. Fantasy for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra in C minor, Op. 80 Choral Fantasy - Finale composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven
(Beethoven's 9th Symphony is too easy a pick)

2. Beethoven, althogh Mozart and Brahms battle for second.

3. Yes, I can play cello, I am proficient in the double bass, and I screw around on my family's grand piano a lot and it sounds decent (oddly enough).

1. what is your favorite selection? by what composer?

oh dear. tough question. but i'm gonna have to say (after a lot of thought), mozart's requiem. in particular, the dies irae, confutatis, domine jesu and agnus dei.

2. who is your favorite composer?

mozart, brahms, beethoven, stravinsky, prokofiev are up at the very top of the list, but i think mozart has the edge over the rest for me.

3. do you play any classical instruments?

i started playing the piano when i was 4. i started playing the double bass when i was 8. i got into one of the best music colleges in britain (if not the best) on the double bass.

i find i have certain pieces of music or composers i like to listen to when i'm in certain moods. it changes all the time, but at the moment i love listening to mozart's 40th symphony first thing in the morning, when the sun is shining into my room and i'm drinking fresh coffee. yum. also when i'm getting ready to go out for the night and psyching myself up, listening to something like stravinsky's rite of spring really gets me going. RAR!!

btw, i love the fact that we (being musicians of the lower string section) love the same kinds of composers. beethoven and brahms both have KICK ASS bass lines and juicy cello tunes!!

RAWK!!!

I LOVE IT!!!!

im pretty ignorant as to the names of the pieces i like, all the pieces that i like i heard in films so humor me.

my favourite composer would be John Williams.

favourite pieces would be Barbers Adiagio for strings (used in the film Platoon) and John Williams Duel of the Fates (used in the Phantom Menace) although i do think James Horner composes quite well. my mother listens to lots of classical music and i do like it, it just doesnt make me get emotionally into it.

thats all i have.hope it wasnt too dissappointing.......

1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky

Probably Tchaikovsky, though Mozart pulls a close second, and Vivaldi too. Music with life.

3. do you play any classical instruments?

A rank self-taught amateur on piano, and I play several brass instruments, including Tuba in our high school symphonic band.

Loved Amadeus.
