I've read that book about four times so far. I think I'll read it again soon. I loved it.
Thanks for posting the pics. The one of Legolas is great.

Oops, forgot to ask..

What is the one before the pic with the boat?
I'm guessing entrance to Mordor, but I'm probably wrong. (Haven't read the book in a while.)

I know nothing about the books, but by looking at the filename I'm guessing it's Haven of Morionde.

I know nothing about BBS, but by looking at the question I asked, I'm guessing that you misunderstood.

I asked, "What is the one before the pic with the boat?" (keyword: before)

I know I worded the question badly. Thanks anyway though.

Dancers at the End of Time is a great series-agreed.

The Corum series is excellent as well as Elric.

He has quite a few books about other Eternal Champions that are really good.

My favorite non-series book is The Warhound and the World's Pain-great read.

Tolkien is hardly a children's author. 'The Hobbit' was intended for children. That's it.
'The Lord of the Rings' is a college parallel reading assignment in many places.
Besides, I doubt many 12 year olds are prepared to read a 1,500 page book.

Well I guess I got the wrong impression because my mum read it when she was 13 and because of that she Persuaded my sisters to read it at 12 and 13 And they both realy love the book.

Are you sure it wasn't The Hobbit?

Lord of the Rings is by no means whatsoever a children's book, juvenile as the theme may seem. It was a damn good book too, might I add.

I read Battlefield Earth at 11, so I was all kinds of prepared for Tolkien at twelve. though I have to say it was a struggle to get through it the first time. I didn't really enjoy it til I got into my teens, 13-14. Then I started to get more into the fantasy thing. I love the silmarillion too, and all the histories, though some are a little dry.

I read it somewhere in my early teens. I loved the storyline and plot, but I found tolkein's writing to be drawn out and boring.. but maybe I was just too young for the books. I think I'll have to dust them off and reread them someday.
