vacation slides (well kinda)

I went out of town for a few days.

I went to northern michigan to my family's place on Lake Huron.

My great-grandparents bought it (furnished even) in 1956 and named it Fairview (must be a limey thing).

There are two cabins, I stayed in the little one.


Bigger cabin, needs some paint (one of my summer duties)


Smaller cabin, my mom thinks it may have been a garage at some point.

Shuffleboard. Needs cleaning/repainting. Every summer you come back and it has moss over it again.

My mom wants to take a ride on "the only paddle wheel river boat in the north". I declined.


I almost ran this over with my car, I then took his picture and corraled him off the road

Here is the store near Foote Damn where I bought my fishing license, $14 for the cheap one. I think I remember paying $3 for the last one I got a few years ago.


Where we fished on the AuSable river, caught small perch and rock bass. We also canoed the river today.

I think that is all. Tose are from the digital camera. I broke my 35mm while fishing. I picked up the bag for the digital camera and some old fishing line that someone had left on the ground got snagged on the bag and flipped my 35mm and broke the latch on the film door. So no more 35mm shots for awhile.

I almost forgot the oil furnace in the smaller cabin, works very well. There was a larger one in the big cabin and my grandma called someone out to service it and he told her that it was a firetrap and sold her some large beige box. I wish we still had that one too.

And I bet you those are the lighting instructions on the wall behind it:

1. turn on oil at the tank behind cabin
2. turn knob to "high"
3. push down lever to start oil flow
4. light twisted toilet paper and throw
inside furnace to light

voila!

cool! it looks so pretty. i am a member of a a detroit yahoo club. we have group outtings every month. well next friday we are going to port huron. we rented some cabins for the weekend. it was real cheap 53 dollars a night. i can't wait to go. hehe
