That was damn good DM. I like that part of the note, reminds me of the "Ghost Dance" religion, Wounded Knee and the Paiute prophet Wovoka... They are against what they do not understand.

Very cool post dude.

I think we may have a winner. I should have known that you'd know that.

Also I would like to say that I hate writing and that I submitted this awhile ago and have been dreading the day it would show up.

And that girl called me tonight and wanted me to watch 'the Birdcage' with her at my place. Something about it being for a class, but I came up with an excuse not to. She's kinda weird, and I don't wanna watch the Birdcage.

Also, it's 6:15am. About ten minutes ago some guy was using a gas powered snowblower outside of my window. I jumped out of bed in the dark and in my rush to see what the fuck was attacking my apartment I kicked my bedframe, breaking my toenail. So now I am sitting here with a bleeding toe. The weird thing is that it's not bleeding from where the toenail is broken, in fact I haven't really detirmined the blood source. But my wound is probably of little consequence to you.

I have no idea why I am adding more to something I was uneasy with in the first place, but hey.. if you are going to suck you might as well do it in a big way.

I liked what you wrote, DM. You have a way of writing that makes it seem like a conversation between friends.
Probably a good call re that girl, though I think I enjoyed "The Birdcage" when I saw it.
"Baraka" is an awesome film.
(And my sympathies about the whole toe fracas)

Very good read DM. It brought back memories.

When I was like 14 or 15, I remember hanging out with some cool ass people. We got fucked up everyday. We were always going somewhere, or doing something crazy. Most of the time it was just sitting in a smokey, music-filled living room, playing Spades. I didn't run into the "raver/hippie" type people until I turned 18, or so.

Sometimes I really wish that I could go back to when it was "ok" to get messed up. Now that I'm older, I have to think about the consequences.

Sounds like it was a laserdisc of those weird visuals they show up on the wall at a rave.

But I can identify with what was written on the note he gave you. I understand. . .

DM, good read.

Watch the movie "koyaanisqatsi" (means "life out of balance in Hopi indian). Philip Glass did the soundtrack, and it sounds very similiar to what you watched.

Also, you shouldn't be shy about what you submit. This was quite good.

You just described what was known as "the Bat Cave". It, along with Morning Glory and her man Richard, were well known in my old scene.

Your description of Richard looking like he could have been an old dead-head who rode until the end is right on. The guy was most definitely an old hippie of one strand or another. In his late 40's or early 50's, yet he still raver-stepped and whatnot all night long like he was 30 years younger.

I last saw Morning Glory and Richard at the 2004 Detroit Electronic Music Festival. They are no longer a couple, but remain close friends.

Yes, I saw the date SimpleSimon. I also noticed that the author of the story in question still comments. I then decided to add additional information and send it out to people who actually knew the subjects. Given all of that, I'm not sure what your point was supposed to be.

Also weird that a former Detroit area raver is a contributer to a North Dakota conservative blog. Probably a good fit around here.

and to add to the uneasiness* of the thread, i will post my favourite liner notes:

somewhere in between
...we eat Her, we shit Her,
we drink Her, we piss Her,
we breath Her. in and out.
She carried us in Her
womb over the ages and
brought us into being.
She is the source of Life.
the unique opportunity
we have chosen to refuse,
preferring our seemingly
comfortable sleep at the
expense of Her and millions of others. it is Time to
remember. She is us,
we are Her, flesh and
blood. our bodies contain
the information, the

knowledge of the entire
evolution. cut from our
roots, separated from
each other, longing, sweat-
covered bodies fill the
dancefloor. the uprising
body breaks through the
thin layers called
consciousness and culture.
for a while we lose control
catching a glimpse of the
unspeakable. a sense of
harmony, of freedom.
let's do something with
this and re-establish the

connection. for it is worth
the struggle. it is the
challenge, the only thing
we've really got. let's
not waste our time, but explore and enjoy,
experience and learn...

*but it's the good kind of uneasiness.
