Very well thought out, and thought provoking.
An enjoyable read.

The only true reason a gorilla's penis is so tiny, is that many years ago the rest of the gorilla's penis evolved into a super-intelligent race. Being limited in their primitive form as a symbiot of the gorilla's penis base, they developed genetic engineering using complex chemical communication and removed themselfs. Later they constructed interdimensional gates and went in search of the meaning of life.

Gorrila should, at the very least, be allowed to respond to that rather libelous remark.

I'm with Gorilla.
Not in that I have a small penis, but that this is fascinating.

A seriously interesting piece.
Does this mean humanity's precursors were larger, or just that the difference between males and females was more pronounced. I'd assume the latter. If you have any web sites that cover that I'd be interested to read them.
Always enjoy learning new things, thanks.

Based on response to your previous articles, Rosh and I have the two reserved posting slots. This leaves two slots left for 'guest' posters.
One is taken, so anyone else who has some comment should get it in fast before we are out of seats.

Actually, the theory as I laid it out doesn't have much to say about male-female size discrepancies in the past. The most recent shared ancestor between chimps and humans was about 6 million years ago, the human-gorilla ancestor perhaps a million or more years before that. Since the species diverged, they went on to fill rather different environmental niches, niches that were filled due to certain characteristics as well as contributed to selecting for or refining certain characteristics.
Humans and chimps went on to form polygamous (humans are referred to as serial monogamists) but gorillas went on to develop a harem system. Oragutans live a very strange solitary life. But there really is no reason to think that human ancestors were anything like humans or gorillas, but were in rather something completely different. The human/chimp ancestor may have been rather chimpish though, as were many of the intermediate species between then and now.
I really only glossed over some of the issues and I wish I would have taken more time to show how something as small as concealed ovulation can have drastic effects on the way animals reproduce and "society" is structured. Conversely, I think it is interesting to see how certain anatomical traits were selected for.
Obviously, judging by my body and penis size, I should have a harem of women at my disposal. That's what evolution predicts, dangnabbit, and that's what I deserve!!

Oh yes, as far as online resources go, I'll hunt around for you and let you know what I find. This Primer on Evolutionary Psychology may be a place to start, but I haven't read it in a long time. I don't remember if it is full of cool info or more aimed at explaining the coolness of EP. Regardless, the Center for Evolutionary Psychology might provide a useful point for beginning your explorations. http://www.psych.ucsb.edu/research/cep/primer.html is another big evolutionary site, but again, I am not sure if it has a lot of info similar to my article. Full of good stuff though.
I gleaned most of this info from books, you may remember them as the old way of distributing the printed word. There are a lot of good ones out there, but the book that really kicked off my interest in this stuff was "The Moral Animal" by Robert Wright. "Demonic Males" by Richard Wrangham was a good one, as well as "3rd Chimpanzee" by Jared Diamond. Dawkins books are good too. Pick up anyone of these (I recommend starting with Moral Animal) and then it you like that, it won't be difficult to move in the direction you like from there.
I have to say that reading Moral Animal changed the way I thought about everything. I would have to say that that book and my first sojourn to Japan had the greatest impact perception of people and culture.
