Good, however since I'm a hardcore fantasy RPG kinda guy I must say that you DO NOT use a shield with an axe that big.

Plus in the first pic the knight looks a little uninspired. Can you do blur effects? If so putting a little motion blur into the pix would really bring them to life.

The shield is magical (hence his not being burned by the dragon's fire) so he's damn well gonna use it, and the axe is as well... so it's light enough to use. It all fits into a story I've been meaning to write but will never get around to doing.

The first picture is simply the knight making a challenge to the dragon. Sort of waving the axe in its face. No real motion on that one. I have a subtle blur effect on the 4th one, and I considered doing one on the 3rd, but decided against it.

All 5 images took me perhaps a total of 2 or 3 months to make... I started mid-september, finished a couple days ago. Each one probably has about 5-10 work hours put into it, as well as 2 or 3 render hours.

thats some damn fine magic to make an axe that big that light. he must have magic armor too, since its just sticking to his body without straps or ties. also i think its kind of mean to be picking on such a young dragon, its a tiny little thing.

oh, by the by, thats really fucking cool looking. how do you make stuff like that?

Anyone else besides me think that in the second pic the dragon has boobs?

This stuff is pretty cool. A young dragon or not it begs to mention the time honored saying, "Meddle not in the affairs of dragons for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup."

Do you make other pics like these? If so, I'd like to see them. Your pretty damn good at what you do!

I like that quote. I think I've heard it, but it's been a while back. It's derived from the "Meddle not in the affairs of wizards for they are fickle and quick to anger" (or something like that) quote, right?

If you want more images, I've got tons in the gallery section of my web page (click the link in my sig). I have 2 others with dragons, and about 4 or so with knights/warrriors/wizards/etc. The rest aren't really fantasy-oriented, but I still like them.

Also check the Ramblings page (link under the flash section till I update) as I post links to new images there until I get around to updating the galleries.

Its not a young dragon, its got wings and stands on its own.., only thing I don't like is where the fire is coming from his mouth, his toung is up so its coming off his tounge? oh well, this stuff is really amazing.

oh yeah, and I thought in the first one he was yelling at the dragon to the effect of you'll kill no more or something, I'd like to read a story with this.

Comparing the size of the dragons body to the knight, they are about equal. Assuming that the neck is the same length as the body and the tail being twice as long, we have a total length of 24'. According to AD&D rules in the Montrous Compendium binder and the Monster Manual, that would put the dragons age at just about 26-50 years old. Though a Juvenile, he would be old enough to breath flame.

I tried to look at your page Roshigoth but I could get nothing to come up but the flash frame. It's probably my shitty ISP and bitchy shadowbox at fault.
As for the saying, I think it is based on the one about wizards. I guess a good rule can apply for more than one thing.

Actually, though from my camera angles and such, you can't tell, but the dragon's body is ~ 1.5 times the knight's height... But that's pretty much irrelevant. I wasn't going strictly by D&D rules anyway.

If you can't get the flash page to load, there's always my non-flash page: http://gcheese.com/noflash.html
Hope that works.

A bit of a mistake on my part with the first calculation. According to the books, it would be a hatchling under 5 years old and unable to breath fire. At 1.5 X the length of the knight it would make him 36 foot long and between 6-15 years old. Very Young according to the rules and still not old enough to breathe flame.
Of course you could always claim it to be a magically enlarged Dragonet, (they normally grow to only 4'.) Either that or a midget red dragon, (Perhaps that would explain why it looks so pissed off at the knight.)

You should always go by the D&D rules! To not do so is blasphemy unto the minions of rabid, dice-rolling fantasy freaks of this world. Repent or my troops shall lay siege to your castle and burn ye out! :P

Cool pics on your site. I wish I had the software you have so I could take a stab at it myself.
I've seen this one somewhere else though but for the life of me can't remember where.

Check the 3rd edition D&D rules. Even the youngest red dragons have breath weapons. And, at the 36 foot measurement, he'd fall under Huge/Gargantuan (since much of it's tail, we'll say Huge), and therefore could be anywhere from Young Adult to Mature Adult, with (10-14)d10-damage breath weapon, and average 218-312 hps.

3rd edition rocks.

I mostly use Bryce, Poser, and Rhino. Bryce and Poser are $200 each, and I'm not sure about rhino except that student version is $200.

As for that picture, i'd love to know where you've seen it (I did include it in my front page post, if that's where you saw it). Otherwise, I'm curious who borrowed it from me

3rd Edition is the tool of the Devil!!

I've been playing 2nd Ed. for over a decade now and the idea of over $2,000 in books, miniatures, and game aids being now obselete makes me angry. I'll never play under 3rd. My dignity won't allow it. (Besides, change scares me.)

I used these charts to sum up the size and age of your dragon. The idea that at 36' a dragon could do 10-14d10 hp damage under the 3rd Ed just seems WAY off to me. To just be able to do 10d10 under 2nd Ed. the dragon would have to be twice the size of yours. (Thus another reason for me to stick with the tried and true version I play.) See for yourself:

Those programs are pretty pricey! I guess that I'll just have to send a letter to Santa on that one. I just asked my wallet if I could afford one of them and he is still laughing at me! Stupid wallet. Shut up and get back in my pocket!

I'm not sure exactly where I saw that pic before but I'm certain that I have seen it. I'm going to look on a couple of sites I know of where I think it is. If I find it I'll let you know.

Third edition is much, much nicer than 2nd. Many rules are cleared up and simplified, everything really makes much more sense, and it just looks to be more fun. But then, I'm not afraid of change, despite the tons of money I've sunk into the 2nd edition. On the bright side, they do include a conversion guide to convert much of that stuff over to 3rd edition

And the new monster manual doesn't give lengths in feet. It just gives the Category sizes, so perhaps I'm mistaken in including the tail in the size. Anyway, even on your table, the hatchlings have breath weapons.

But like I said, I wasn't going by D&D rules on this pic. But yeah, he is kinda small. He still towers over the knight, and that's what's important

Yeah, the programs are pricey. I'm still saving up for the new version of Rhino, and I'm also saving up for Flash 5 and Freehand 9 (bundled together for $150 educational version)

Partially I think that the problem with the game becoming simplified is that Wizards of the Coast bought it a couple of years ago. (They make pokeman crap as well.) It's all about money. It's not the simplification. I understood the 2nd ed. rules fine, no problem. It's just that the 3rd edition rules correct all those areas of 2nd edition that just seemed.. stupid.. to me before. I did like a lot of the more complicated rules like players option and psionics. The third edition rules are simpler, yes, but they also made more sense from a players' and DM's point of view.

Bah. As for magic, I played that for a long while. It's pretty simple to learn, though I knew MANY people complaining about how they couldn't understand it and even many who did didn't know shit about the rules. It may be relatively easy to learn (actually, 2nd Ed. AD&D wasn't any harder) but it took a lot of skill to build good decks and play well. I've played some people with their own (relatively sucky) decks while they played a deck borrowed from one of our best players, and tore them to shreds because they were fucking morons. But I got tired of magic because it got boring, and I had been sinking WAY too much money into it. But it wasn't D&D for dummies.. it really wasn't much like D&D at all.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anyone to role play with out here an AZ, though I've been planning with some people about Vampire (that's what they want to play. I'd rather do D&D, but i got outvoted).
