LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney said on Tuesday he liked the music of controversial rap artist Eminem, saying he could understand its appeal to kids.
Interviewed by CNN's Larry King, McCartney said he liked rap music but did not listen to it much.
"I like some of the Eminem stuff because it's kind of clever. I like the rhythm. I like the attitude and I can imagine if I was a young kid now, I'd like that," McCartney said.
Grammy award winning rapper Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, has stoked controversy worldwide because of his violent lyrics. His critics say he is misogynistic and homophobic while his supporters praise his wit and poignancy.
McCartney was in Los Angeles to wrap up work on a new album and to promote an anti-land mine campaign with his new girlfriend Heather Mills.
McCartney said he would be singing with Paul Simon at a gala fund-raising concert for the campaign in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Everyone looks naked when you know the world's address.
eminem...jeesh..I agree with Dennis Miller on this topic...read below....
Taken from his "music industry rant" - I put the whole thing in the "music" forum..

You know why Eminem showed up at the Grammy's? Because it sells. Eminem isn't about freedom of speech as much as he is about the freedom to make a buck. He isn't peddling his songs underground to get his point across; he needs controversy to keep him famous because of his unfortunate dearth of talent. He stops selling records, and no one gives a fuck about his freedom of speech anymore. You think Gino Vanelli stopped making records because he gave up the right to his freedom of speech?
[sarcasm]
You know what? I like Eminem. Not because he's funny, or because I like his music. I just like what he has to say about women and gays ... Wait, I don't mean that. That's just an ironic character I'm playing, casting light on our society's new wave of political correctness. [/sarcasm]

i am still trying to figure out why should we care who Paul McCartney likes? what was the point of writing the article? the writer couldn't come up with anything better?

albeit a very persistent one.
