Question What does it all mean Basil?

Why do you use the nickname(s) that you do?
What do they mean?
Where did they come from?

Mine comes from a few years back when someone decided that I had the same eyes as the Italian football player, Fabrizio Ravanelli (I don't). I didn't actually use it as an id until I signed up for the SPF. In real life, most people call me Winnie (because of my last name, which is Winfield). My friends delight in telling people that my nickname is Winnie, because my last name is Pooh....idiots

Edit: I've been called redrum once or twice as well...can't think why

mines just short for 'urban conspiracy junkie' - the title of an unfinished trash novel i've written.

proper nick names i have that could have been used instead of UJ where:

featherlegs - because after a couple of E's my legs feel so light i think i'm floating in mid-air.

nick the greek - seriously unoriginal.

stavros - worse than the one above.

I am hardly graceful or lithe...

but my nickname signifies trivial or silly speech...damn me for having a rhetorician's tendencies

I used to be babel for the same reason, but that was a bit too biblical for me.

Your'n ulf of der Jabberwocky.

Anyhow, flocat is a shitty name and I don't know why I use it. I guess it's cuz it's a long story. Flocat is the name given to a guitar that my buddy and I designed. Since it was all my idea but he helped me with the actual artwork, he said that we should name it after me---my last name starts with "FLO" and the cat part is from the fact that the damned thing was designed to look like a cat. So, voila, I'm flocat because of the guitar. But no one calls me that in real life. Of course, I don't have friends that call me anything in real life so bah. Bye.

Didn't I lready tell this story? Straightforward and simple. Many moons ago we the island people.... No, wrong story.

Many years ago, when I first got my hands on a modem and first dialed out to a BBS and was signing up. It asked for a screen name. I read more back then, than I do now and for some odd reason the name Mordecai had popped up in numerous books. I liked the look and sound of it, the feel of speaking it, so I chose that. It stuck. I answer to this name now.

Mordecai Richler, perhaps? He's a well-known Canadian author.

They were characters, not the author. The strange part was that they were very unrelated books. One Mordecai was in fact, a bat.
