Those goddamn house fixing shows depress the hell out of me because it only reminds me how much work I'm supposed to be doing or paying for on my house. Especially that pissant feela guy. GRRRRRRRRR!

Now the furniture guys, them I adore.

here's a question. say you didn't have a saw (except for the non-electric kind). and you needed a saw. that you could do stuff like saw walls with. and saw 1/4 inch into your floor to take out rotten boards. and saw 2x4s so you could replace boards on your deck. just say.
and you didn't want to spend more than $100-$150.

what would you buy?

bonus points if you could also saw tree limbs and metal with it.

bonus points for anybody who wants to come over and help (airfare not included)

when I was a baby my parents lived in a shack with no floor. my father decided one night that he would raid the lumberyard next door for the wood to build a floor. so in one night he stole all the wood he needed and built the floor with minimal tools. the next day the owner of the lumberyard came by because he knew my father had stolen the wood, he just couldn't find the stolen property. my father invited in him to look around and even offered to let the guy check under the house. the guy never figured out that the floor he was standing on was his lumber.

missphinxs I can't get the link to work go to www.rockler.com and go to hand tools then hand saws the keyhole saw and japanese saw will both work

Milwaukee Sawz-all (reciprocating saw) can cut anything. You can probably find a knock-off for that price range.

Anybody know the name of the guy who used to have a show right before Norm's, on Saturday mornings? He only used old fashioned hand tools.

One time, he made an entire log cabin with nothing but axes and hand planers and crap, and one other person helping. He made a pseudo-adobe mixture with which to chink between the logs. He kicked ass.

Right after his show, Norm would come on and use pneumatic nail guns and belt sanders and crap and just generally look like a big pussy.

Now let's talk Gods! Tim Taylor was a GOD!
His first show was a dishwasher improvement. I was watching it while my hubby installed our dishwasher. Just about the time Tim was hiding his electrical burns from his wife, my hubby blew every circuit breaker in the house! I was laughing so hard, I couldn't ask if he was alright. He was, except for a few electrical burns of his own.
