He was always welcome at TLF as well, we just told him to slow down on the posting sprees occassionally (75 posts in 30 minutes is excessive by anyone's standards, I would think).
The irony of GFY at THT was that his behavior there was exactly what we had asked of him at TLF. Had he have posted at TLF like he did at THT, there never would have been a problem in the first place. I sort of shook my head when I saw how he was posting at THT. I kept thinking to myself "dude, that's all we were asking you to do here".
But everytime we'd ask him, even nicely, to tone it down, he'd run off in a huff or ignore our plea entirely.
He's a nice guy, don't get me wrong, and I'd be happy to see him posting here again. Why he would hold a grudge is beyond me. But if he does see this, I would relate the story of a friend of mine in high school. The guy, for some reason, decided that the best way to be funny was to try and make a joke every 30 seconds. I guess the theory was if he TRIED to be funny pretty much constantly, pure random chance would hold that every once in awhile he'd say something that really WAS funny. What this meant in practice was that he hijacked every conversation he ever had with barrages of attempts at being funny. Sure, a good portion of the time he really WAS funny, but more often than not his comments were lame attempts, and the behavior in general was terribly obnoxious. You couldn't hold a conversation when he was around because he would just constantly throw out as many bad puns, horrible jokes, or whatever else popped into his head at the moment, effectivly drowning everything else out as if the world was his personal stand-up routine. A good guy, like I said, but man did that always irritate the fuck out of me.
A good portion of wit lies in what you DON'T say.
But yeah, I'd love to see him around. I actually like him a lot more when he's not trying to be funny and instead trying to be himself. But everytime he gets disagreed with while being himself (in his Pro-America thread that lead to his first self-imposed exile, and then when Wonderaz and I kept trying to tell him to tone it down some) he gets all insecure and leaves.
GFY: Come back. Be more sure of yourself and less of a post whore and we'll all be just fine.
