So, tribals...

In straight words, lay it out.

What do you think of this "home" away from home?

Nothing much has changed - all 8 pistons are gonna be replaced, and then the engine is gonna be put back together - will take some time.

I think it is very gracious for the admins at the Asylum to offer this to us, and I thank you for it, but I really don't think it's necessary. There was really nothing that was discussed there that couldn't be discussed at TLF. I think that all this is really serving to do is divide us and keep the "forum war" flames burning.

I posted at both THT and TLF too and I like this here... threads won't drop so quickly here and the philosophy/physics/politics threads often drop extra quick in TLF wheras they should have more longevity here. You could see a difference in responses when sp00ky or squee posted the same thread at both THT and TLF; not necessarily better at either but different.

I hope this lasts (dunno if it will, it depends on Kol and theMac, etc.). I hope TotalAnarchy turns up...

I have to agree w/ Smug. NOt only that, but we know where to look to find our buddies that we know oh so well. Granted, I'll still post in TLF, but I also like knowing that if I dont have to search to find out what the rest of my....family....is saying. I can just come here...and whalla.

I think it is a good idea. and i'm very grateful for the space/bandwidth which they are allowing for us. If anyone has anything bad to say about The Asylum after this..well...I just may kick that person's ass.

I agree this forum has a place.

Our political discussions are kind of boring to most at TLF and highly inflamitory to others. They are also tired of the threads about THT.

I expect to see some mega flame wars here. We are in the home turf of some highly intellegent liberals and they will be attracted to the debate here. It will be frustrating to have every word scrutinized but it will be a great learning opportunity for the not-too-thin-skinned.

I personally welcome the opportunity to cross blades with some liberals. They have valid points and I expect to spill some of my own blood on the battlefield.

You are right. This will never be The Hyper Tribe. We will be standing on borrowed ground. We will no longer have the Home Field Advantage.

Are you ready to stand toe to toe with worthy opponents on level or slightly uphill ground?

If you want a place where you can win every argument, this will not be it. We will lose some regulars but will gain twice as many new ones.

I look to the future with anticipation. So should you.

I agree but I dont agree. Anything can be discussed in TLF, it lives or dies by participation. (good or bad)

I've been a member of the Asylum since day one, a SPFer longer than that and a Tribal since a few weeks after it opened. The 'Forum war(s)' were always pretty much a phoney war to me. A few whiney malcontents with nothing better to do. Most of us (I think) dont care about which board we post on. Its more about the content and the people.

Nice place to camp for awhile.

Remember to wipe your feet, everyone. This is awfully gracious of the Asylum to let us be here.

*hangs the storyteller hat up*

Now we have more people to share the hat with.

I think this is a nice little apartment we have here Besides the occasional beatings, the mods arent too bad either. Honestly though, at first I thought this was just a dumb idea to piss people off..I know some people have nasty alterior motives (sp ahem) but I'd rather not deal with people like that. Whatever the motivations of some, we are fortunate to have been given this place and I will use it! As some other people said, I will still also use TLF..I've been hanging around for a while and am not going to stop now.

Hopefully this will just be temporary and the old forum will be back up soon.

PEACE and thanks to all who gave it to us

Smug is right about the speed of threads dropping, though. As asylum has grown, the need for more specialty forums has grown that give particular related threads time to hang around and be mulled over. The timing of THT going down is good as this thread gives them a place to hang for a while opening up a new aspect of the Asylum in general. I would really like to see this forum be something that makes life better for everyone. (I resist saying both forums or any other terminology that distinguishes us. We are all online together, ya know? )
