The end of the World as we know it.....

Say it ain't so, Joe..... Say it ain't so.

Internet life as I know it may change forever. Anyone NOT in the AOL or AT&T zone looking for a room mate? I cook, clean and have a good job.

Ok why is AOL so popular?

It is the most intrusive, computer slowing, incompatable, email unfriendly, disk / memory hog of any internet provider I have seen.

I think I would rather do without the internet than use AOL. Why do so many people spend actual money on that piece of shit????

Why can't people understand why people use AOL?

75% of internet users these days are by no means technically savy. They want something they can fire up and get online with, and AOL does that. There's very minimal fucking around that has to be done, and it suits their casual browsing needs. Granted, there are better means to do it, but AOL fucking sends out like hundreds of thousands of those free trial for a year CDs. Basically, if you're looking for a free ISP, you'll be looking in a field just diluted with AOL. After a year of casually browsing with AOL, there's no real reason to switch to something else unless you are as dead broke as I am. I mean, I despised AOL when I used it, but for say my mother, it would be just fine.

My mom hates AOL, and she isn't tech savvy at all. But Paint is right, it is the easy of use and lackof experience with other better ISPs that give AOL the lockup. That is also why Apple marketed the iMac as internet ready in 3 steps.

People really need ISPs that are interested in making a better online experience rather than making money. People also need to learn that using a computer isn't like using a TV. You need to learn how to use it and what it does.

You use a macintosh.

I just feel that needs to be out in the open, for the record.

Same reason you need to learn about guns if you intend to own them.
So someone can't come along and tell you that you have no right to use it without their control because you can't do it right/safely.

What if you only show yourself bad things and then are prompted to do a bad thing?
You should have been protected from your own ignorance.

Note: the last line is the truer than I care to admit.
