The scent of crayons is one of the most familiar in the world, new research shows...

People, I can only tell you what I know, which is to say I can only tell you what has filtered through the psychosociocultural gas mask of my very brief but not wholly uninteresting existence, which is to say everything you hear will of course be relatively biased and skewed and opinionated because there really is no such thing as objective truth and even if there were you wouldn't be able to recognize it simply because of your various mental taints which is another way of saying the very the same thing and it's a small miracle we can communicate at all given the slipperiness of language and the slipperiness of soul and the adorable vagaries of this and other forums, but that's what keeps things interesting so perhaps it's best not to complain too much and just shut up and get on with it.

Wow.. all sorts of people are crawling out of the woodwork today.

And the new layout was timed perfectly for this!

[edit: Oh yeah, good to see you again, Pangloss.]

Cuddly Puppy?

I've been called many things in my time -- and many of them within these hallowed halls -- but never that.

This forum is now too damn 1337 for its own good.

The puppy has to go. Fix it, someone. I don't care what; I should still have a reputation in some people's memories, so get introspective and see what comes up.

[I don't care what you may think about the wine and my typo(s) -- I still blame the over-1337ness of this forum for the necessary edit]

This is the new forum you have to do it yourself in the user control panel, the admins are lazy now.

Eloquent, insightful, randomly punctuated, typo-laden, partially plagarized, massively run-on sentences may flow naturally from my present less-than-sober state.

Intelligent RTFM-esque understanding of new forum fuctions does not.

Ingratiated for the pointers, people. When I have a spare month, I'll figure out the rest of the new fuctions for myself.

[Did I say typo-laden? mm hm.]

We're T-minus 2 weeks before I have to submit the final draft of my thesis, and 3/4 weeks before I have to defend it against the slings and arrows of outrageous examiners.

After that, the world is my oyster. Several weeks in California with missphinx, see what happens et cetera, and then... ?

Who knows? I sure as hell don't.

Writing a thesis makes one think. It also makes one drink, which in turn makes one think some more -- but not necessarily in a logical manner. Which is not to say that the destination of that train of thought is any less relevant.

What we've discovered in our trail by fire is that... ... Well.

Imagine. You just so happen to casually yet furtively glance down into the depths of the coffee mug as you sip the final sip and you notice the gleaming oozing blackness of it all and suddenly get impaled on a sense of infinite timelessness and then you have one of those bizarre detached suspended reality experiences whereby you see the world as a bizarre random assortment of scattershot events and sensory inputs and tactile phenomena and you feel a little floaty and odd like how did I get to this place doing this thing at this time in this body using this language on this tundra sipping this hot caffeinated beverage in this life and it's a deliciously weird feeling that thankfully only lasts a few moments otherwise you'd very likely go insane and have to be heavily medicated and probably stay up all night posting to a group of people you'd sucessfully forgotten about for the past few months but who have all now come flooding back into the conscious mind.

Curious, isn't it?

Yes. We could, we ought to, we ought to just shut up, get on with it - pull the trigger, drop to the floor.

It's never been this easy, thanks to new perspective V.2!

I wish you were around more Mr. Pangloss, I dig what you say. Although I'm not really around either, so I guess it doesn't matter that much. Cake, eat it, as well, etc.

Spooky, I haven't even had time to take you to task for your philosophical meanderings, have I?

If it doesn't have anything to do with the constitutive modelling of orthotropic plasticty in perforated sheet aluminium alloys, I haven't been reading it.

(And before anyone laughs, that is my life at the moment, so please try to empathize just a little and try to imagine just how little someone in my position may need or desire glib comments on how horribly undersexed and cultureless and grey his or her life is at the moment. It's necessary and shall soon change.

heh....ah well. I ask only because the original post of this thread expresses a paradox by Karl Mannheim. Although, and I will concede, you put it in a much more eloquent way than he.

Now...go find a woman and have sex.... pay if necessary, you sound like you need to get your end away.
