there is a movement to make john lennon's birthday, October 9, an international day of peace and love. as corny as it sounds, i think it's a good idea. john lennon is instantly recognizable for his attempts to spread the message that peace and love can save humanity from itself, and his violent death only accentuates that more. if you would like to support this, please sign the petition at the official site:

and please don't turn this into a flame war over john lennon, and whether he "deserves" to be remembered this way. i found this at a site that's steadily falling into this, and it's just ridiculous.
