You went straight to 'bunging' a new operating system on after this minor troubleshooting?
It seems that your PC isn't able to do anything other than send and recieve ICMP packets... which is moderatly amusing in itself, and suggests some dodgy firewall product
whats the exact error message you are getting when trying to send and recieve email or browse?
have you tryed a different browser? or a different email client. Is it just ports 25,110 and 80 you are having problems with? can you telnet or ftp to anywhere? is it just urls you can't browse to or IP's too?
if you cant browse, how did you manage to post here?
Reset your security settings for IE and ensure you're not running through a proxy server, create a new identity on OLX, disable any windows or 3rd party firewall software.
Aminal, from what I know, he has no firewall product installed (I've been trying to solve the problems for him). I'm going up to Manchester to see him on Friday so I will have look but I don't think that anything can be done apart from a vape and a reinstall of Windows

Just to be pedantic, he can do DNS lookups which means UDP and TCP are also working.

hehe - I just had this image of the old - hell if it doesn't work, reinstall.
Yeha macker your right, if DNS is working then it must be able to do TCP/UDP :P
Have you tryed a third party SOCKs product like Trumpet?, or replaced your wsock32.dll?
What OS is currently running? Have you tryed installing any server software like PWS and seeing if people could browse/ftp to your machine? Is it just the PPP interface that is having this problem or is it LAN as well(if applicable)
All these questions seem silly and you've prolly tryed most of them already but i have another question - Has anything on your system changed recently?
