Anthrax Smanthrax, we've got a bigger problem.

Something has been bugging me about the whole Anthrax deal.

When I first heard about the Anthrax cases/crop dusters I was a bit scared. Mainly because based on my limited knowledge of the disease I knew it could be a somewhat effective weapon when rendered aerosol.

But when I found out they were just mailing spores I became confused. I couldn't understand why people with money, Education, and including warfare training were using inactive spores in the mail. They had to know this wouldn't be that effective.

(Don’t let anyone fool you, These are not just uneducated heathens. The biggest failure in any battle is underestimating the enemy.)

It almost seemed a last ditch effort of attacking us on our own soil, when all other devices failed. Inciting panic but not doing much damage. Given the general American "We're invincible" attitude that permeates our society. It would be very easy to convince ourselves of this, and go back about our business because we were "winning" the war on terrorism.

Sometime yesterday they found military grade C4 with attached detonator in a Greyhound bus station somewhere in Philly. They say they can confirm it was placed there Sept 29th at 2:43AM.

I now think I know why the Anthrax deal was bugging me.

It wasn't an attack. It was a distraction. It was keeping our resources busy while they planted and planned a second coordinated attack.

Discuss.

Plastic Explosives Are Found in Bag in Philadelphia Terminal
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

The Associated Press
Philadelphia police officials removing material from the Greyhound bus terminal on Friday after plastic explosives were found there.

Amid the national flurry of alarms over feared terrorist activity, the Philadelphia police found a powerful amount of C-4 plastic military explosive yesterday in a suitcase stored in baggage locker in a downtown bus terminal.

There was no immediate danger nor evidence of terrorist activity, the police said after less than half a pound of the explosive plus 1,000 feet of blasting cord was discovered in a suitcase left unclaimed in a Greyhound terminal locker.

The city was abuzz as the terminal was closed for several hours. The police emphasized there was no immediate danger because the explosives had not been connected to any sort of detonation device. But the police said there was enough plastic explosive to destroy the building.

There was no immediate explanation for the explosive's origin. Detectives said they planned to view the terminal's security video tapes to see who might have checked the bag.

The police said the C-4 was wrapped in a plastic garbage bag inside the suitcase, which had been put into an automated locker on Sept. 29. The suitcase was retrieved on Oct. 3 by a terminal employee after it went unclaimed. The suitcase was stored and was then routinely opened yesterday. The police were called immediately.

Unclaimed baggage is normally checked for clothing that can be donated to the city's homeless.

Specialists from the bomb squad and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms scrutinized the suitcase's contents and neutralized the C-4.

C-4 is a highly potent, malleable explosive developed for the Vietnam War and favored in the past by terrorists. The government said it was used in the attack on the American destroyer Cole last year in Yemen in which 17 sailors were killed.

I started to reply with something really stupid.... silly.... but then....

I don't see most people letting thier guard down. Perhaps the Anthrax is meant as a distraction, but it obviously didn't work in the Greyhound case. The C-4 was discovered in time, right?

I'm very sure there will be more attacks. Possibly some successful ones too. My youngest was asking me that question the other day and I had to be honest and tell him I believe this is not going to be 'over' for a long time and I believe there will be many more deaths along the way.

This makes me very sad.....

here's a big ole ball of fun to consider.

mebe there's more than one terrorist group, and perhaps some of them are local products.

think about it.

this would be the bestest time for some of those small groups inside the US who want to take down the goverment. La Vey was a member of one of those groups. There's definitly more than one.

haven't any of you heard those stories that pop up now and again, where they find vast amounts of chemicals to make whatever they were making inside dude's apartment, and dude was a regular american guy, born and raised right here.

one, or a few of those groups may (or may have)get/gotten the idea into their noggin that they could do an attack of some kind and trick the gov into blaming the taliban.

just food for thought

There *was* enough C4 to destroy the building, but no immediate danger nor evidence of terrorist acvtivity?

I can see a few scenerios here.

#1 Someone was trying to get rid of things they shouldn't have had. Maybe they stole it several years ago, maybe they just came across it and never turned it in. Either way they knew they shouldn't have had it and picked a VERY ignorant way of disposing of the evidence.

#2 SAS/CIA operatives use the locker for pickups and drop offs, authorities neglected to point out that there was also an undisclosed amount of cash in 10+ different currencies, and fake passports/identification in the briefcase.

#3 someone just forgot to get their bag.
Remind me to call grandma and see if she left her C4 in Philly. She's so forgetful sometimes.

BAH!

Then I considered that a home brewed terrorist is still a fucking terrorist.

Keep in mind I'm not singling out any ethnic group.

Just radical idealists that intend to hurt innocent people.

Who's to say that anti goverment american groups are not communicating with other people who share their ideals?
This is not unheard of dearie.
