YANKEES SUCK!!!
YANKEES SUCK!!!

yay!

I can smile for nearly another year, knowing they aren't the champions. Steinbrenner crying. A picture of Zimmer in the paper, hand in the camera's lens, trying to block his frustration. Pictures of Paul O'Neill and Derek Jeter disappointed. Only the Rocket had a single positive thing to say when he talked to Schilling after the game. It's as if the Yankees were expecting to yet again, win. Statiscally speaking, all odds were against them. It's nearly impossible to win 4 in a row. It's nearly impossible to have a closer save 24 consecutive postseason games, a streak lasting 4 years. It has been impossible throughout the history of baseball to stop the team with the most wins in a season, or the best winning percentage in the history of the American League.

With all this considered and 3 consecutive WS titles, why do they seem so sad over losing for once?

Sure, losing sucks. I'm a diehard Red Sox fan, I should know. But we're always talking about next year when we fail. We aren't down. Put a bunch of people on the highest payroll in the sport and they cry cuz they lose? Friggin Steinbrenner was hysterical that he lost, that's just pathetic. With all the talk that it would have been nice to see the Yankees bring home the championship because of the WTC attack, did someone forget what was best for baseball? Fuck the Yankees. 28 other teams failed too, yet it seems like they can't take it. A blemish of NY and the USA, if you ask me. All the Yankees fans I know didn't take it too hard. And just about everyone else who watches baseball is sick of them. We need more players staying away from the Yankees to try and beat them besides going there to win. Baseball needs variety, not the Yankees. Fuck the Yankees.

The Yankees Suck. So sayeth my t-shirt.

It pleases me too, but for a different reason. I grew up a Pirates fan, in the other league, so my only Yankees "experience" was Mazeroski beating them with the home run in the 7th game about 40 years ago (and that was just lore, a bit young to remember it.)

I think the Yankees represent all that is wrong with baseball. The fact they have won 3 of the last five World Series comes down to money. And while I'm a capitalist at heart, we're talking about what's supposed to be fair competition. The Yankees win because they have the largest market (read: advertising $), and can afford to hold onto big name players with longer term contracts.

Baseball lost my interest during the strike in the 90s, and has done nothing to redeem itself. If they were to level the playing field so to speak by instituting revenue-sharing (see NFL, NBA for examples), it would bring more competition back into the game, and more cities would be able to share in success. As it is (just heard on the news today), it's likely two major league teams will have to fold next year since they can't compete financially. At the top of the list: Montreal and Tampa.

i read about the league contraction thing today.

this worries me quite a bit. I think we need to come up with some kind of government subsidized benefit program to aid the displaced ballplayers.
