An article that I was reading mentioned that "The anti-Taleban fighters are advancing on horseback and are receiving American air drops of ammunition, and fodder for their horses".
Now, while these soldiers are galloping through the hills via a conveyance that revolutionized warfare... many centuries ago, there are B-2 bombers streaking overhead that are one of the most advanced warcraft to ever grace the human race.
This struck me as a mirror image of the scenes of ground battle in a couple of the Star Wars movies. Cavalries of raptor-like creatures carrying warriors who are blazing away with their lasers while the sky is crisscrossed with battling spacecraft.

The year is 2001, a world that was once only science fiction, where the fields of battle are shared by starship troopers and the knights of old.
We live in amazing times.
