Dingledork was gracious enough to take time out from coding the wonderfully splendid lame worm java game to reinstate the points. He added in our trivia points, but left the others out, and for good reason.

Now we get a chance to re-hash the old discussion (I didn't make the effort to find the thread) about which points to have. I personally think that the system we had before was pretty good:

• Humor
  
• Culture
  
• Perversion
  
• Compassion
  
• WTF?
  

as well as the occasional special point and any other random category that pops up from time to time.

Let's use this thread to voice our choices as to using the same categories or going for something new.

Also, I think it is a good idea to not bug the admins too much about this. Yes, we all want our old points back, but that isn't going to happen. Even if it was, they wouldn't like being pestered to add in 500 people's points all at the same time. Be patient and let them accumulate naturally. Sure, if you get a chance, maybe some of the admins will hook you up again, but don't be a bugger about it.

I think the point made in the previous thread was correct about how points before were given out sporadically by admin whenever they felt like it. Points never did really mean anything, 'tho they were kinda cool.

I propose that once a month we have a day set aside for a vote by Asylumnites to award points to members via the Poll method. You guys work out the specifics on this proposal, since I have to go to work right now. (TGIF!)

There aren't 500 regular posters though, nute. 100 maybe? It'll just take a little while, if the admins are willing to do it. I guess they'll probably discuss it among themselves.

I only have 1 culture point myself so I have nothing to gain but I would prefer it if people got their old points back. If it just goes away sometimes people won't be as interested in them anyway (I gather that this last load of points totals had lasted a year?).

Yeah, points are just for kicks, that's part of the reason that we should practice restraint in having our old points added in.

THEY ARE JUST FOR FUN, SO DON'T RUIN THE FUN BY BEING A BUGGER ABOUT IT!!

I'm not sure if a poll is a good idea though. Not necessarily a bad one, but not sure if it would work out. We do have a 'report this post to an admin' option on the new board that could be used to recommend people for points.

I missed the Humor points for a while, but really, they aren't needed... I was surprised to see even the trivia points back when I logged on this morning (and even more surprised at how many I have.. how the fuck did I get that many?)

But really, when I think about it, I don't think we need points back. Or at least, no more than the trivia points, since they're already there.

And WTF is up with Nute's Anti-Kuglo points?

And the only reason I said keep the trivia points is because they're already back. I was fine when they weren't here either.

I miss the points...

I just think they set us apart from other boards.

I remember my first point, it was for humor in the bunkum's "it arrived and it's real" thread about cal's sperm shipment... I was really happy to get it and made me feel part of things.

I got my perversion points for my live panty folding performance. Think I earned those.

I got my bewbie points for showing, both Chantrea and I played along with Dingle one night and won them fair and square.

Joey awarded me some flaming points for my posts regarding RW, I earned those.

And, I think my culture points were given for posting my art. Again, earned.

Really, the only points I had that I didn't earn were my 1001 cleavage points, which I loved nonetheless, and someone gave me compassion for something I am not sure about.

I guess what I am saying is that they weren't given out for no reason. And I suspect if mine weren't, than others earned theirs as well.

er, did that make sense?
