The UN has done a good job of driving through a deal here. I saw a report, where the reporter said that the last deal lasted less than a week (some time ago) but that he was more hopeful for this deal.
Of course, it will take years until the significance of this is seen, but it does present them all with a second chance to get stuff right.
As a side issue, I think that one fo the problems with political debate is that quite often the effects of an event or policy or whatever take a long time to be seen so although we can 'wait and see', it can take a pretty long time to find out what the result is.
I am optimistic about this, although I think that our involvement might last a little longer. But it appears as it for many purposes it will be run semi-autonomously on a local tribal basis for most matters, and that might be the only workable solution short term. It will be interesting to watch, I hope that people in the West doin't just lose interest in it like they did after the Russian withdrawal, and keep looking to see how it develops.
