Where is all the Alpaca-porn on this forum anyway?

There something fishy going on, I know it.

i was once startled by alpacas.

they were in a place i wasn't expecting them to be.
they have abnormally large eyeballs. i thought maybe they were extraterrestrials. or subterrestrials from the core of our hollow planet.

the experience freaked me out, especially since i had just recovered from seeing a large stylized metal porcupine weathervane.

most of that day was terrifrying.

cool things about llamas...

1. They can scare away wolves! Some wolf-friendly ranchers are employing them as a way to guard their livestock, rather than shooting the wolves.

2. They look utterly ridiculous when they run. All flat-backed, with their necks sticking straight up in the air. One panicked in a field near a street, and busted through the fence, nearly causing a 6 car pile up on each side of the road when drivers braked to avoid hitting it.

Alpaca sweaters are absolutely divine.

intersting fact. The Forth Rail Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland, was based on the counter balance structure of the camel/llama family skeleton.

Amazing what you learn on BBC Knoweldge.

Mounting does not mean that penetration has occurred. Females with full coats on their posteriors are more challenging to penetrate and more problematic for a male. A heavily wooled female may simply be impossible to penetrate. Tail-wrapping or trimming the fiber from the tail and around the buttocks allows for surer access. As a warning to the reader, be aware that there have been tragic incidents in which the penises of stud animals have become ensnared in hair so badly that the blood flow was interrupted and a portion of the penis was lost. One of the most prolific studs in the llama business lost his reproductive capability due to this phenomenon. Occasionally, the stud may simply have a problem with bad aim and release semen on the exterior of the female after a lengthy mounting. If a male appears to have trouble finding the mark, make sure the mating is done with good breeding symmetry and check and direct the male to enhance his performance. If the male keeps repositioning, it may indicate that he is having problems penetrating.

I think this one is a boy:

Breeding is done in the prone position and takes at least 15 minutes since the male dribbles, rather than ejaculates, semen into the female uterus. While breeding, the male makes a continuous "orgling" noise and occasionally moves his front legs along the sides of the female. The mating process induces the female to ovulate so she can become pregnant.
