Well its a shame, but it had to end sometime...

Just got this from a few "friends" who are a part ofthis scene as well as myself.

Very interesting read.

Looks like a lot less WaReZ will be going around on the net now

The tactic is fear. The coordinated raids were just for show.
They obviously know they can't stop Warez so they are trying to push it underground.

When it is out of the public eye it will look like they did their job and they will go bug someone else.

Is it? Or are you referring to the shame of those who would choose to steal the intellectual property of someone rather than pay for it?

This is a comment from someone who downloads and listens to MP3s.

im not gonna get all high and mighty and claim all my software is legally licensed (or music for that matter), but it's hardly a shame that people who break the law are punished for it.

Gee, didn't fiend just say that Caff?

Mp3s are not illegal. And you certainly haven't seen law enforcement going after MP3 owners, or seen the RIAA using their Napster-acquired user lists (with IPs?) doing it either.

Dingle, I love you to death, but you would sing a different tune if they punished you for breaking the many laws you do.
(Referring to the illegal software, not the child pr0n)

Ok, I'm ready for this argument if you are

Or are you referring to the shame of those who would choose to steal the intellectual property of someone rather than pay for it?
Is what I was referring to. Just because fiend said something, doesn't mean I can't direct my own opinion towards someone.

I never said you were going to be arrested for breaking any laws, which you probably are. It would not be profitable for the RIAA to do that, would it?
Gee, are you claiming, G, that you never stole the intellectual property of someone (an artist maybe) rather than pay for it? (buy the CD)

It is unless you buy it from a licensed retailer.

*cough*

Why, d1n0, I had no idea we have among us a "member" of the hacking/cracking "fraternity" who has "friends" in high "places".

I had you figured for just another "geek" with all the usual limitations.

(Although, yes, forgive me. I should have guessed from your ultra1337 "moniker".)

Can I be on that übercool mailing list, too? Do I have to pass a "test"?

Oh, go on. Don't be such a cunt about it.

Please?

the people who were busted were responsible for cracking and distributing the software. it's not like they raided peoples houses for listening to mp3's or using a cracked version of paint shop

gets used to it.
It happens every 3-5 years.
big hype for a few weeks, then it's back to piracy as normal.
The FBI cuts off one head, and the pirating monster just grows another one.

About this time I start forgetting how to use a mouse.
You tell anyone different and I'll call ya liar.

where is the intellect in paying for something if you can get it for free?

shame is a wasted emotion, as is regret. only those who spend a resonable amount of time on the net know about warez anyway, i bet the losses although substantial arent at all crippling, unless its from a small company. not everything can be controled and those that aspire to control everything are either corrupt or on a power trip.

long live WAREZ!!!
