Poetry
Poetry is an art form. To do it well, one must have some sort of artistic abilities. I use words as my paints and a pen as my brush. Some people say no, poetry isn't art. It's high time that people come to realise that literature is art. There, it's been said. And now, with much cajones, I present to you:
Innocence
And so I asked her once,
"Is your innocence all that you can give?"
She looked at me with a tear in her eye
And with a sullen sigh, she replied,
"Does my innocence let you live?"
She looked at me again, expecting me to notice her bunce.
That was millions of years ago today.
And still, millions of years from here out,
I'll continue to hear her cry so loud
As I killed and covered her with a burial shroud.
I really no longer care what they say.
It was so many years ago that I've erased all doubt.
Are the confessions of innocents worth much these days?
Should we believe those that belie?
Her innocence given so that mine may thrive.
She's worth more dead than alive.
Sometimes, I'm still trapped in her gaze.
And so, I still hear her sigh, "Good-bye."
