Hey, just looking at buying Poser 4, software for creating people in 3d...the question is...is there any other software of this type I should be looking at? Is poser the only software out there to create humans? Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated...
this isnt my area of expertise but you can also check out Lightwave3D and 3D Studio Max. i hear lightwave is the best (and most expensive), but that's all a matter of opinion i guess.

Thanks, I have Bryce 4, but you cant make people in it, need poser for that, also have metacreations Carrara, but people are just beyond my capabilities hence the need for software that does it for you, does 3d studio max make people? and thanks for the help..

Poser's probably one of the very few that actually come with people to play around with. Most others you have to make them yourself.
Some other character animation programs include Life Forms and Hash Animation Master.
I don't know much about either. I prefer Poser myself.
Most high-end 3d apps (3DS, Lightwave, Maya, etc) can also do character animation, but of course you've gotta build or otherwise provide the model yourself.
