To my mind, electric refers to the electric field and all its consequences, such as electric current. Electronics normally involves a miniaturised network of components through which an electric current might flow.

Electronic is a subset of electrics.

if it is used as a

electronic device and electric device

i would say electronic is a set of electric driven divises working to a common goal

and an electric devise is anything on the component level

or ask smug

the electric slide and the electric boogaloo are examples of non-electronic uses.

If you were to say "electronic eel" I would think of a robotic eel, not the electric eel. or something.

Strictly speaking, 'electronics' originally referred to devices that used electrons, but some chips contain p-type semiconductors where the charge carriers are effectively positive. These positive charge carriers, called 'holes' are effectively the absence of electrons, so I guess that the electrons are important here too.

I still prefer my original answer though.
