The best way to get top dollar for your ring is to look at the professional sellers auctions. See what they are getting for similar rings (Search completed auctions by carat size). That will give you a pretty good idea what you can get for it. Take clear pictures. If you don't have a manual focus digital camera, shoot a picture/ pictures with a 35mm camera or have a friend that knows how shoot some high quality pictures. Scan the photos. Keep the file size around 300K bytes if the ring is worth over $500 if not shoot for 100-200K.
The picture sells the item. Give the cut, carat size, ring size, gold content (10K 14K 18K), and the ring maker if you have it. If the diamond has an IGA cert sheet you will do much better if the diamond is over 1 carat.
The auction title is important, copy the professional sellers.
You WILL do better on ebay than at a pawn shop, trust me. I have sold quite a bit of jewelry on ebay.
