Angry Rats!

okay, i am not sure what it is but i think i either have a rat or a mouse in the wall.

i live in an old house with lots of cracks and so on, and tonight when i was on the sofa i could hear this weird noise in the wall.

not really scratching, just something moving about, making noise.

I have this wall in my living room, there is an outside wall and an inner wall, so there is about a foot between them and i access my curcuit breaker and my water mains through some wooden panels....

i know there is a spot on the outside that something can get in, it was temporarily fixed when i came here a few years ago but not really closed up.

so anyhow, i am pretty sure there is something in the wall tonight.

i have a cat and two dogs, you'd think it would piss off, but it keeps making noise. I kick the wall when i hear it and the noise stops...for awhile.

any suggestions how i get this thing out, or kill it, or....???

i do not need mice or a rat in here.

I lived in this house that had a squirrel infestation once .. the land lady used 'have-a-heart' traps and about a pound of poison. she placed the traps in the attic and with in days the breeding and wire chewing that was taking place in the walls by our heads in the beedroom simply stopped. then about a month later I told her she should come get the traps now please because I cleaned the fridge and it still smelled funny in the house.

They make a supersonic transmitter that is battery operated that you can put in your attic and will cause all rodents to depart for the deep woods. Effdective about 150 foot radius. It also works on racoons even though they are not rodents. Squirrels are rodents and so are rats and mice. You can find them advertised in Gardening catalogs. They cost about thirty dollars but they do work.

But what about your pets? Wouldn't it bug the shit out of them too?

Doesn't seem to. My neighbor has two going all time and he has dogs and cats that pay it no mind. I suppose if your pets were rodents like gerbils or something like that it would give them hell. It also does not affect birds.

Get some rat poison pellets. Stuff a few in the hole so your pets can't get to them. That will get rid of the current problem and will get the next batches that move in untill the bait is all gone. It should work for several months to a couple years dependent on the rate of infestation.

The Texas way! Heh.

Actually I might use that method because it sounds fun.

Since we don't have negative compassion points I will pick something else but you will be the proud owner of a point.

Edit:

OK nothing seemed appropriate so I gave her a compassion point. Just pretend there is a minus sign in front of it!
