Hey BnB. I know why we call Brits "limeys". I know why we affectionately tag Mexicans as "beaners". I even know why we label certain folk as "sorgum-dippers".

With these things in mind, I, for the life of me, cannot understand why we don't refer to the Irish as "taters", or "whiskeys". Especially since I am a goodly portion of Irish descent, and since I like fried taters 'n' George Dickel so much, I need to know. Amen.

uhh, dude, you don't have to go to such lengths really. i have purchased a few wallace and gromit things over the past few years. i got them all from the local pbs store (now closed down, unfortunately). i'm sure you can get them from the pbs website or something similar.

JEB, the Irish are known as "paddies" and Irish-Americans are "micks." Although a friend of mine calls me a "potato cracker," rather than a "corn cracker."

Bunkum, I'm aware of what you say regarding "paddies" and "micks". The thing is, how come the Brits, Mexicans, et al, get to enjoy food-item tags and the Irish don't?

A whiff of insidious discrimination against the Irish? Amen.

We could just make "potato cracker" the new term, so we can employ your idea of food-based nicknames.

Gosh, I love the word "employ" today.

Well, you better learn to love the word "tallywacker", too. You can run, but you cannot hide from the mandatory AsylumNation Higher Tax Bracket Gang Bang Initiation. Amen.

p.s. You are permitted, however, to bring air freshener, since the jackass and several others are, shall we say, unwashed heathens. Amen.

Thanks Spook,
I'll PM ya about it closer to the pissup.

Flo,
I've done a bit of research, and there's some mighty cool W&G stuff to be had across the pond. The fan base isn't the same here, and you cannot get all the cool items. Plus it'd be something special that daddy brings home from philly for my boy. all that more special cause it actually came from W&G's homeland. Kids are funny like that.

JEB,
You crack me up. I've a bit O' scotish in m'self and unnerstand. So let me just say this in parting. Spoolip.

Jeebus. For some strange reason, that last little crack o' yers triggered a massive gas spasm.

Amen.

p.s. Notice how, despite the fact I've been bombarding her with reminders of her impending Mandatory AsylumNation Higher Tax Bracket Gang Bang Initiation, bunkum continues to tippie-toe around the subject by discreetly moving her posting to other threads. You didn't tell her you were going to participate, didja? DIDJA?

You make a good point. And so, I concede to you in this matter. Lucky kid you got there. Why won't people bring me anythiing from across the pond? I'm practically a limey with my spelling and love of Ali G and all. Bollocks to you who don't bring me stuffs!

I thought you called the English limeys! So why do you call the 'Brits' limeys then?
