i just saw the other thread and thought about how small minded it is to refer to God as a male figure most of the time.
at least the christian God is, and look at the story of creation in seven days.
women are the creators...so God must have some feminine qualities...hopefully none of the estrogen tho.

I doubt god menstruates, I doubt he scratches his balls either.
I don’t think god is anything we can possibly understand and very seriously doubt it is or can be defined by any thing we could comprehend with our little mammalian brains much less something like gender.

Beats saying him/her.
When we refer to things as him, or her, we often do it not literally.
I know someone can explain this better than I can, but la mesa = the table. Us thinking the christian god to be male or female would be (not as silly as believing in him in the first place) as silly as thinking the table in our dining room to be a female.

I don't think of it as small-minded. Remember, Christians believe in the bible, and the bible says God is, if not a man, then in the form of a man (hermaphrodite?). It's not that they conciously make that decision, that's how the information is presented. And I side more with U4b, I don't think God is anything we can wrap our minds around...at least not as neatly as Cassidey wraps her lips around.....well, we'll leave that for some other time
