about hockey this season.

So my devils aren't doing so hot. Actually, none of the teams i'm fond of in the eastern conference are doing very hot, except boston...and as great as they're doing, i doubt they'll get far in the playoffs. I don't mind the islanders, but i don't think they've got enough steam either. This makes me very sad. It means i'll have to count on a western conference team (psshaw!) to defeat the Avs this year and to make sure Detroit doesn't touch the cup either. I'm favouring edmonton, i'd like to see a canadian team (finally) win the cup again. I don't pay enough attention to the west, i'm not sure who i'd bet on to beat detroit or colorado. Just a few more whiny comments:
We need a new backup goalie. Beezer is withering before our eyes as i type.
We traded randy mckay. What the fuck?
Why is scott gomez still on this team?

On that note....

stop trying to hit on me zoey

Well Edmonton Won again tonite 3-1 over Dallas which means we are moving into a playoff spot with 4 points ahead of Dallas and LA (LA losing to Calgary, I've never seen so many Edmontonians cheer for Calgary). I'm hoping for Edmonton to draw Detroit 1st round, I dont wanna see anothe AV match, too many years of the same shit. I guess we'll see waht happens.. ..............

Didn't he get 3 points last nite? hes a youngin. Give him some time.
Canuck were doing great. Would have garaunteed a playoff spot if the didn't play like shit early in the season. And what with Bertuzzi? Someone slipped some horse steroids into him. Hes on fire.

bertuzzi has more points than anyone this month. he's pulled into third in scoring. he's finally vindicating my immense bertuzzi man-love.

anyway, with the canucks playing as they have since christmas they should squeeze into the playoffs. to play detroit.

but if that series is anything like last year's canucks/avs series, i don't care. that was fucking great.
the canucks are one of the most exciting (not to mention best, stats-wise) teams out there when they're on their game. unfortunately they're really inconsistent, though not so much lately. they need a goalie who can bail them out once in a while. cloutier has 7 shutouts, but they all came in games where the team dominated and he only faced 20 shots or less (i think).
also, naslund. i love the canucks.

ps. since christmas they're 25-9-3-3. i only bring this up because despite having an amazing last half of the season and having two players in the top 3 for scoring, nobody says anything about the canucks. i check nhl.com and the espn site every day (while at work), and there haven't been any features on the team or any of the players.
it's bullshit, i tell you.
pps. 8th! also, i read that it is possible to have 92 points this season and still miss the playoffs. the western race is insanely tight.

I'm breaking 1k to type this!

1 y-DETROIT * 79 51 16 9 3 243 176 114
2 x-COLORADO * 79 44 27 7 1 206 164 96
3 x-SAN JOSE * 78 42 25 8 3 238 188 95

5 LOS ANGELES 78 38 25 11 4 207 182 91
6 ST LOUIS 78 39 27 8 4 212 180 90
7 PHOENIX 78 37 26 9 6 211 200 89
8 VANCOUVER 79 39 30 7 3 243 207 88

9 EDMONTON 79 36 27 12 4 198 178 88
10 DALLAS 78 35 27 11 5 206 203 86

15 COLUMBUS 78 21 44 8 5 155 240 55

Talk about fucking tight! I'm back to fearing Edmontons position. Though I was saying all week that I hoped Vancity would pick up thier game and make a rush for the final spot in the playoffs. The more Canadian teams the better. So it looks like with 3 games left We here have some shit to do. And the worst part is the waiting. his is are longest break during the playoff rush with a gap of 3 days that we have to wait! then We play the Coyetes which wil make or break our spot. If we don't win the last 3 we are out.
I will cry.

that's where the canucks have been for a while. now they can clinch their spot if they can win all of their last three games. quite possible, but too fucking intense for my liking. what SHOULD happen is vancouver and edmonton win one or two games, and phoenix and st. louis LOSE. kick those guys out. that way there are two canadian teams, and there will be a rematch of last year's canucks/avs series (plus vancouver doesn't have to play detroit ).

good call yourself, edmonton has the goaltending to compete. salo is great. the canucks have to get by on SUPERIOR OFFENSE, because cloutier is unimpressive.
though i think they can take on any team in the league right now. the roll they're on is no coincidence.

i would like phoenix to make it as well (for burke's sake) but if they must be sacrificed, so be it.

This is the first season in a few that I'm almost up for a hockey discussion. My dear old Canadiens are doing really well, one win away from playoff and six straight wins and counting. But I must say that I'm pessimistic about their chances in the playoffs regardless of which team they would face. The Canadiens offense is too weak I'm afraid. The defense is actually not that good either, Theodore is the only reason for this great season, in comparison to how it have been the latest seasons atleast.

Good news though, Saku Koivu is back! He's supposed to play tuesdays game against Ottawa and Donald Audette has recently made his comeback so things seem a little bit brighter for the Habs.

One thing I'm happy about right now is the acquisition of Bill Lindsay and the return of Sheldon Souray. These two players add a little grit and muscles to the lineup, something that I have felt was not really there before. There must be a couple of players who take some penalties and maybe a fight or two to show the other team that We just wont give the match away.

So even though it's probably atleast one round in the payoffs this year I look forward to next season and hope that the management can make a good trade or two after this years playoff.

theodore, swingfly my man. jose theodore. i'd say if koivu is back and playing well (after abdominal cancer, probably unlikely), theodore will give them the chance to win.

I don't think that he will be enough to win but I will say this, Theodore is my candidate for Hart this season. I can't see any other player that has meant as much to his team as Theodore.

As much as I would like to see the Avs win again this year, I doubt it'll happen. Our game has not been as good as it can be lately, and the stepping up we do in the playoffs may only be enough to get us to the Finals. Unless we get Forsberg back, which is a possibility as he's starting to skate again. Then we may have a decient chance.

*cough*iginla*cough*
roy too, really. i'd say it should be
1. iginla
2. theodore
3. roy

also, the canucks will make the quarterfinals no matter who they play. that is my ignorant and short-sighted promise to you all.
they will, though.

Yes, I too believe Iginla will win, he has had a great season and scored lots of goals and points in a year when almost no one else has. However, I do not think that he is more valuable to Calgary than Theodore to Montreal. Montreal relies almost solely on Theodore to win, even though there are some players who have relatively good seasons. I think it's a telling sign of the quality of Montreals team when Oleg Petrov scores 24 goals and is second in scoring with that. Honestly, he is not that good a player, a couple of years ago he played in Switzerland for crying out loud. I'm not sure how many times this year that Montreal has won the shots, but I bet it's not that many. Last night the Canadiens beat Ottawa 4 to 3 but lost the shot 17 to 28. What I'm trying to say is that I believe that without Theodore the Habs would lose every single night, almost

Oh, Koivu played last night. Only eight minutes or so and no points but I don't care, it's good to have him back. He got an eight minute standing ovation. Hehe, he was even voted first star in the game but I think that had nothing to do with the way he played

iginla is involved in something like 43% of calgary's goals. he IS that team. it's a toss-up, really, but i think it'll go to him.

Well fuck me!

Edmonton won 3-0 over Phoenix, which means we are still in this damn race here. Problem is This race is too close for my liking. Someone's gotta start losing games and it better be St.Louis and Phoenix. Vancouver will be given the chance to Leap up the ladder Playing Los Angles tonite, If LA wins they will outta reach and quinch a spot. Goodluck to them.

As it stands Edmonton and Vancity both have 90pts and both have 2 games left. The bad news here I guess is Phoenix' last 2 games are against "the Wild" and "the Predators" two teams that dont satnd a chance of getting in the playoffs (but seem to be fighting anyways). The good news... Well sucks to be St.Louis, with 3 games left they draw "the sharks" and a double back to back game against DETROIT! can anyone say ouch! what a way to end your season. Hell if the Blues pull this off I guess they desevre to be in the cup race but the Wings are sitting at 114pts and aren't budging.

So we got only till sunday and this whole thing is done and a whole new game starts. Geezus I love this sport!

Check out the Last goal here by Comrie, he makes it look so easy!!!
