Song Battles (just something fun to do)

Waaaaaaaaaaay back when, i was at a Tori amos forum. We used to have a few song battles a week. It solely consisted of Tori's songs... but Im going to try something different here.
This is how it works:
I put 2 songs up for battle against each other, along with a snippet of lyrics from the song(usually the chorus). You copy and paste the song you want to win the battle, and the winner will go up against another song that I choose. In the event of 3 consectutive wins, a song will be retired and a fresh set of songs will be picked. If you dont know all the songs in the battle, you can broaden your horizons by going to kazaa or whatever and downloading it. Then you place your vote. After a few weeks of this, i will take the biggest winners and pit them against each other until we're down to the ultimate song(in the Asylum's opinion). If this works, and people actually try it, Ill continue to do this, starting with a new set of songs, or I can pass it along to someone else to start a new set of battles. if you have an idea for a song you want pitted in the battles this time, e-mail me or PM me with the song title and artist.

Im going to start this round's battle off with 2 classics. Ill post my choice right afterwards, so you get the idea of what i want you to do.
Just copy and paste the song(of the two I post) that you want to win the battle.
HERE WE GO!

BATTLE #1

THANK YOU-by LED ZEPPELIN

If the sun refused to shine
I would still be loving you
When mountains crumble to the sea
There will still be you and me

Kind woman, I give you my all
Kind woman, nothing more

V/S

ANGIE by The Rolling Stones

Angie, you're beautiful, but a'int it time we said goodbye
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here
Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said goodbye

GO!

btw... first person to guess the correlation between the two songs I chose gets a culture point(you must vote when you guess, for it to count, btw).

Angie, by the Stones, is the better song.

Angie is not their best song, though.

The obvious connection is that they are both english bands. But that won't be it.

Nope. Thats not it. The answer is sort of in the first post, but not outright given.
(btw, me picking a certain song does not necessarily mean it's my favourite or their best song.. it's just the one I picked for the battle)

This is very tough. Angie is one of the few stones songs that really resonate with me, but I have to say that Zep carries the day (as they will even if you pit their worst song against the Stones best).

Zep, zep! Hooray!

Perhaps running through one example would be helpful (maybe make this one a test?) Also, in terms of a correlation, I'm assuming it could be anything, like these two songs were covered by the same artist in the future, yes? And finally, what's the purpose of cutting and pasting the same lyrics over and over?

I definitely need that shirt from bunkum.

Edit: Angie rocks, but I agree Smug, not their best, though of all the bands from that era, I have little love for the Stones. Like Dylan, a band with a front man who can't sing doesn't appeal to me in the least.

eh. You dont have to cut and paste. Thats just the way we used to do it. You can just vote and add your thoughts(as it seems most are doing anyway... and I actually prefer that).

I was planning on making this a short battle, as a test of sorts. So is your vote for zeppelin then, G?
Ill take a few more votes in this battle, and then go to the next, which hopefully will show how this is going to work.

btw... G won the culture point. Both songs were covered by Tori Amos on the "Crucify" Maxi-Single.

No, in this case my vote is for "Angie", but I don't know what the correlation is ...

COMFORTABLY NUMB by PINK FLOYD

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cannot hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

*accidentally fucked up this post. sorry*

whoa. Unanimous(though Im not really that surprised.
Just want to let you guys know that the song have already been picked for the entire game. Im drawing them randomly out of a jar right now to match them up.

Obviously, Floyd takes the win in round two... so in round 3, we have:

Ooh can I play too? I vote for Just a Gigolo, the reason for this is that someone translated it into swedish and hit the charts here with it. Instead of "Just a Gigolo" it was called "Gösta Gigolo". "Gösta" and "Just a" is pronounced the same way and Gösta is a name here that only old people have these days.
