Origins: This photograph of a tea kettle reflecting its unfortunate owner's image (and the cutting caption accompanying it) surfaced on the Internet around August 2001. This picture was supposedly posted to sold.com.au, an on-line auction site on which the kettle's owner was attempting to sell it (although the photo is often attributed to eBay instead).
One of the rumors that accompanied this item was the claim that it was no "accident":
The person selling the kettle is supposedly an exhibitionist. Someone had traced his eBay user ID to an ID on forums, and it seems that the guy gets off on this stuff.
Worst. Site. Ever.
