Man, there is all kinds of stuff happening over here today
I live two houses down from the firehouse and they have been busy! They have been out at least 4 times already and its only noon. They were just called again and 4 more from another fire house just screamed past my house with two ambulances in chase I hope everything is ok where ever they are headed.
What’s going on where you’re at? Any interesting news from your local sources?

local news
13News has learned that before Amy Lou McRae and her boyfriend Mark King were shot in the head Thursday night, McRae may have wrestled or struggled with her assailant. Apparently the victims were specifically targeted, but the information doesn't give any clues about a motive. The murder was a reported home invasion, around 6:45 PM Thursday. Police were looking for two suspects, seen driving a gold Honda accord with silver rims. Gary and Louanne Sweet have been making regular visits to CHKD, the hospital where their four-day-old granddaughter Breonna is in critical condition. Doctors saved Amy McRae's unborn baby while the mother was dying from a bullet wound. The baby was born seven weeks early.
The Sweets have not heard anything about the investigation. "Police have not called us. I tried contacting them Saturday but got no response," said the baby's grandfather, Gary Sweet.
Police say they are pursuing leads but won't elaborate on where things stand. "As far a firm suspect, we don't have one at this point," said Dave Dempsey of the Portsmouth Police Dept.
Meanwhile, the Sweets have gained temporary custody of the granddaughter they plan to raise. The baby's father, Mark King is in serious condition at Sentara Norfolk General. He too was shot Thursday night.
"We feel we could take better care of this baby better than he could or anybody we know that might try," said Gary Sweet. "We know it's going to be a challenge, but for the baby, and for Amy, we'll make sure this child will grow up right. She's going to have a lot of love in her family."
A trust fund has been set up for baby Breonna, contributions may be made at any Wachovia Bank.

Well here in Boston, Cardinal Law needs to be run out of the city on a rail. Then we can tar and feather him, and hang him from a gallows at the crossroad.
But that's old news.
In new news, two people at Logan Airport made a joke about bombing airplanes and wonder why they got thrown in jail :disgust:.

They're starting a search for a murderer, I believe...
"A former Royal Military College cadet apologized yesterday for secretly videotaping a civilian woman having sex and then showing the tape at parties around Kingston’s military base." -- http://www.kingstonwhigstandard.com
"An inmate awaiting trial for a string of violent crimes in the Napanee area was stabbed at Quinte Detention Centre this weekend amid continuing tensions between striking guards and the Ontario government."
A nurse was jailed for forging drug scripts and cheating the health care system out of over $40,000.
Basically, a woman was abducted by a rapist for a week and is now disabled. The blows to her head left her unable to stand, etc. and now she's getting disability pension because she can't work anymore.
edit: Think you can tell there are nine jails within the Greater Kingston Area?

uh...nothing much apparantly-
Members of the newly formed Economic Development Grant Committee set meetings for Aug. 1 and 2 to certify the bulk of projects to be approved for a share of $200 million in lottery bond funds - well past the city of Charleston's May deadline to secure state funding for a new baseball park.
we're so urban.

Wedding invitation causes alarm
Written By: Web Producer Susan Wells April 09, 2002 - 9:48 AM
BELLA VISTA, Ark. – A wedding invitation sent out by a couple in Colorado caused a rash of anthrax scares across the country.
A hazmat team, postal service inspectors, firefighters, and sheriff’s deputies were called to a post office in Bella Vista, Arkansas, after a postal worker spotted white grains leaking out of an envelope.
The post office was closed Monday for about an hour. The white grains were actually sand, sent with an invitation to a wedding at a Wyoming beach. Cheryl Haas of Broomfield said she never meant to cause any alarm and thought it would be okay to send with the invitations.
The Arkansas post office closing was the third time one of the invitations to the June 29 wedding at Glendo Reservoir has raised concerns the white sand might be anthrax spores
Haas said she got the sand from a Home Depot store and she thought it would be alright to send it in the invitations. She said the envelope was clear, also included confetti, and had a return address.
She has heard from some of the guests she invited who were just as concerned when they opened the card and found the sand.
